Late Registration Over

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Cohen Climbs the Leaderboard

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Jon Cohen
Jon Cohen

Jon Cohen, in early position, and an opponent two seats to the left both put 5,000 into the pot on the flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

Both players checked through the {6-Hearts} turn, and Cohen put out a bet for 8,000 on the {8-Diamonds} river and got the call.

Cohen turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and the opponent mucked, bringing Cohen the pot and chipping him up to 226,000.

Lillge Finds a Kind River

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Mark Lillge was on the small blind, heads-up against a hijack opponent with the board showing {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Lillge went all in and the opponent called.

Mark Lillge: {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Hijack: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Neither player held a diamond, making the three to a flush on the board a non-factor. Lillge was behind when the chips went in, but the {10-Diamonds} came in on the river, giving him two pair. The hijack had Lillge covered, and both players remain alive the the tournament plays on.

River King Keeps Bowman Alive

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

With the flop showing {j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Keith Bowman, from middle position, got all of the chips in against an opponent on the hijack.

Keith Bowman: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Hijack: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Things didn't look good for Bowman, who had his opponent covered but looked to be left on a short stack unless help came on the turn or river. The turn came {5-Hearts}, but the miracle {k-Spades} indeed did fill in on the river, sending the hijack out of the tournament.

While the Ante Up World Championship $1,650 Main Event is the premier tournament on the schedule, it’s far from the only one. In fact, the tour has been at Thunder Valley since early July hosting a slew of side events.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team wasn’t on hand to capture the action from those events, but we still wanted to offer fans a brief look at all those who’ve captured titles during the Ante Up World Championship.

For example, Event #20: $180 Win Place Show Takes the Dough Pot-Limit Omaha had 48 entrants create a $7,000 prize pool (including bounties).

After Howard Andrew bowed out in fourth place for $200, the final three struck a deal that saw Hakeen Mashal finish as champ for $774, while Alex Boldt and Lei Chi finished in second and third respectively for $773 each.
