Ryan Hong has taken a couple of hits to his stack early. A recent hand saw a player shove all in for 7,875 from early position. Hong was in the big blind and looked pained as he decided what to do. Eventually he opted to make the call, sliding in enough for a call.
Hong:

Opponent:

When the board ran out

, Hong would hit his ace, while his opponent hit a set. Hong will now a bit of help here on Day 2.

Martin Drewe and Justin Cohen are out in the Oasis Room on the same table and they recently rumbled in a big hand. We arrived at the action with a flop showing

and Drewe had led out for 3,500. Cohen thought for some time before studying Drewe's stack (who had around 35,000). Eventually Cohen said he was all in and Drewe gave a small shrug and made the call.
Cohen:

Drewe:

A flush draw for Drewe and top-pair for Cohen. The
on the turn changed nothing, but the
on the river gave Drewe the card he needed as Cohen gave him a handshake.

When we came to Sam Capra's table there was a board showing

and Capra was in the hand against one short-stacked opponent. It was at this point that the player shoved all in. Capra instantly called and turned over
for a flopped straight.

Gordon Huntly took to a flop showing

in a raised pot against one opponent. The action was checked to Huntly and he made it 11,600 to go. The player made the call and the
was dealt on the turn. This time both players checked and the last card was dealt on the river.
River:
On the river, Huntly's opponent led out for 15,400 and Huntly thought for a few moments before raising it up to 40,000. The player instantly let his hand go and Huntly took in the pot to crack 200,000 in chips.

Tobin Ryall finished up Day 1a as the overall chip leader going into today's action. That trend is continuing early into the day as he now sits behind a stack of 225,000. Bill Kennedy also started the day as one of the chip leaders and he now sits with significantly less.
