We aren't exactly sure how he got his hands on all those chips, but Sam Ruha over on table 4 is already sitting behind a stack of around 35,000 in chips. Considering the players started the day with 20,000 in chips, that's quite a handy stack.
There have been 100 registrants so far on Day 1c of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event!
Some of those players are online qualifying "no shows", but regardless those entries will stay in the prize pool.
So, today's 100 players, added with the 44 from Day 1a and the 66 from Day 1b means we have reached 210 total entrants - meaning we have broken last year's field of 207 players.
We will have official confirmation of this number and full prize pool later in the day.
Fans of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour get your NZ$2,200 ready and head down to the SKYCITY Auckland Casino as today is your last chance to buy-in to the ANZPT Auckland Main Event!
Over the last two days we have seen 44 (Day 1a) and 66 players (Day 1b) at the tables, all hoping to progress and make their way toward coming the next ANZPT champion. Now, on Day 1c, we expect another solid field as this is the final chance to make it through to Day 2.
The benchmark was set on Day 1b as last night saw Anesone Bragouits finish up with the only six-figure stack so far in this event. He bagged up 106,600 and we sure any of the dozens of players on Day 1c will be happy with similar success.
There will certainly be plenty of familiar faces at the felt today, including Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang. The last two years has seen Huang have plenty of success in New Zealand poker as he finished on the final table of two ANZPT Queenstown Main Events.
Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews throughout the day as we continue to provide live updates of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event. It all kicks off at 12.30 p.m. local time!
