Day 2 Completed

Amant Nauhria Holds Huge Lead Over Final 12

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Chip leader, Amant Nauhria
Chip leader, Amant Nauhria

It’s not quite the final table, but the final 12 players have recently bagged up their chips and will now head home to rest before returning tomorrow to fight it out to become the latest champion of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour.

Amant Nauhria will start the final day of ANZPT Auckland with 1,431,500 in chips, while David Lim will have 1,012,000. With just over 4.1 million chips in play, these two players alone have well over half of all the chips with 12 players remaining. An amazing stat.

The day started almost 12 hours ago, with 105 players returning to felt to play ten levels of action and hope to make it to the end of the night. Some of the players who were eliminated during the early stages of the day include New Zealand’s lone WSOP gold bracelet winner Simon Watt, Daniel Levy and Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang.

As the players neared the bubble, prominent Kiwi Koray Turker exploded before Aussie Dean Blatt became the official bubble boy.

Once the bubble had burst, the remaining 24 players had locked up at least NZ$3,834 and then a steady flow of eliminations occurred throughout the last two levels of the night. Some of the notable players to finish in the money include Slade Fisher (21st), Ben Rendall (18th), Karan Punjabi (16th) and last year’s ANZPT Auckland 3rd place finisher Pravin Harji (14th).

When Anesone Bragouits was eliminated in 16th place, it was looking like David Lim would be the chip leader, but that all changed when Amant Nauhria dominated his table and ultimately sent Steve Holloway home in 13th place and as the final elimination of the day.

Be sure to check out the full final day table draw and end-of-day chip counts in the live reporting blog below.

The final 12 will return at 12.15 p.m. local time tomorrow and we will once again be here all day long providing live updates straight from the floor of the SKYCITY Auckland Casino. So, who will become the ANZPT Auckland champion? You will have to return tomorrow to find out!

Steven Holloway Eliminated in 13th Place (NZ$7,455)

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Steven Holloway has been eliminated during one of the final three hands of the night.

Holloway was all in preflop holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and had ran into the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} of Amant Nauhira. The board ran out {4-Spades}{a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades}, with Nauhria’s hand only getting stronger as he scooped up the massive pot.

Holloway, who is a sports reporter for the New Zealand Herald, was sent home in a gallant 13th place, for which he collected NZ$6,390.

Nauhria will very likely be the chip leader now and looks like he might even have up to 1.5 million in chips!

Final Three Hands

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The remaining 13 players are playing their final three hands of the night. Stay tuned to find out about any late action, who finishes up as the chip leader and the final day table draw.

Pravin Harji Eliminated in 14th Place (NZ$6,390)

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Pravin Harji's quest to make it back-to-back ANZPT Auckland final tables has come to an end in 14th place.

Harji was all in preflop from the button holding {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and was up against the {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} of Amant Nauhria. The board ran out {10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and it was all over for Harji.

For his effort, Harji collected NZ$6,390. Nauhria is now the chip leader and the first player to reach a seven-figure stack!

Anesone Bragouits Eliminated in 15th Place (NZ$6,390)

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

David Lim is now far and away the chip leader as Anesone Bragouits has been eliminated in 15th place!

We arrived at the hand that would see Lim finish as the likely end-of-day leader with a {4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board already out on the felt and with Bragouits checking to Lim, who bet 148,000. Bragouits moved his big stack all in here and after thinking for a few moments, Lim made the call.

“I did not put you on the flush,” Bragouits said as Lim tabled {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

The {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} of Bragouits went into the muck and he exited in 15th place.
Following this hand, Lim has around 850,000 in chips.
