Day 2 Completed
It’s not quite the final table, but the final 12 players have recently bagged up their chips and will now head home to rest before returning tomorrow to fight it out to become the latest champion of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour.
Amant Nauhria will start the final day of ANZPT Auckland with 1,431,500 in chips, while David Lim will have 1,012,000. With just over 4.1 million chips in play, these two players alone have well over half of all the chips with 12 players remaining. An amazing stat.
The day started almost 12 hours ago, with 105 players returning to felt to play ten levels of action and hope to make it to the end of the night. Some of the players who were eliminated during the early stages of the day include New Zealand’s lone WSOP gold bracelet winner Simon Watt, Daniel Levy and Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang.
As the players neared the bubble, prominent Kiwi Koray Turker exploded before Aussie Dean Blatt became the official bubble boy.
Once the bubble had burst, the remaining 24 players had locked up at least NZ$3,834 and then a steady flow of eliminations occurred throughout the last two levels of the night. Some of the notable players to finish in the money include Slade Fisher (21st), Ben Rendall (18th), Karan Punjabi (16th) and last year’s ANZPT Auckland 3rd place finisher Pravin Harji (14th).
When Anesone Bragouits was eliminated in 16th place, it was looking like David Lim would be the chip leader, but that all changed when Amant Nauhria dominated his table and ultimately sent Steve Holloway home in 13th place and as the final elimination of the day.
Be sure to check out the full final day table draw and end-of-day chip counts in the live reporting blog below.
The final 12 will return at 12.15 p.m. local time tomorrow and we will once again be here all day long providing live updates straight from the floor of the SKYCITY Auckland Casino. So, who will become the ANZPT Auckland champion? You will have to return tomorrow to find out!
