Over the last three days 213 players have sat at the tables of the SKYCITY Auckland Casino for the first stop on Season 6 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour. Now, as we begin Day 2 of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event, only 104 are still in contention to go all the way.
It was yesterday’s Day 1 flight that would be the biggest of the week and it was yesterday’s chip leader who would finish with the most chips. Leading the way at the beginning of Day 2 is Amant Nauhria with 107,200 in chips.
Nauhria is followed closely by Day 1b chip leader Anesone Bragouits, while plenty of talented players such as Eric Chang, Steven Zhou, Daniel Levy, Slade Fisher, Jan Suchanek, Dean Blatt, Cole Swannack, Koray Turker, last year’s ANZPT Auckland third-place finisher Pravin Harji, New Zealand’s lone WSOP gold bracelet winner Simon Watt and Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang are also still in contention.
There is a long way to go before someone takes home NZ$110,760 upon being crowned the champion, but the journey has to start somewhere and today the journey will see ten levels play out, which will hopefully get us somewhere around the final two tables.
Be sure to keep your computer/iPad/iPhone/Smart phone screens locked to PokerNews today as we bring you all the live coverage from the penultimate day of ANZPT Auckland action! It all begins at 12.15 p.m. local time
Today's start time of 12.15 p.m. local time has been changed to 12.30 p.m. This is due to the fact that players on Day 1a were informed that Day 2 would be played at that time. Better late then never!
After a 15 minute delay, the cards are in the air on Day 2 of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event.
The plan today is to play ten levels, with a dinner break taking place after six levels.
We will be aiming to get as close to a final table as possible in that time, but likely will only get down to the final two tables.
Stay tuned for live updates throughout the day!

Last night we reported that 54 players survived Day 1c, but that number was in fact 55 as one player's bag went missing for a short time.
This means that 105 total players are at the felt at the beginning of Day 2.
There were plenty of short stacks at the start of Day 2 of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event and unfortunately Chris McKenzie and Zhu Gang have not been able to run their stacks up as they have been eliminated.

Steve Oliver started the day as one of the shortest stacks in the room, but has managed a quick double up and then some to now sit with a stack of a little more than 20 big blinds.
Oliver got his chips in preflop holding and was up against the of Jason Cook. The board ran out and just like that Oliver had some breathing room.

Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang was down to around 12,000 when he found himself all in preflop holding against the of Ryan Shiffman. Huang was in front and it stayed that way on the flop, but then things got even better for Huang as a hit the turn. Huang had locked up the win already with the river changing nothing and leaving Huang to sit with a stack of around 28,000.
