Huang Continues Love for Queenstown After Huge Day 1c

The third and final Day 1 flight of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event has come to a close! There were a huge amount of eliminations today as a field of 47 entries has been reduced to just 18. Leading the way following Day 1c, and becoming the overall chip leader with 99,425 is none other than Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang.
When Day 1c began there was going to need to be a massive field to reach the heights of last year’s 149-players field. It would end up being the biggest Day 1 flight yet with 47 entrants, which brought the total field size to 126. That means that aNZ$340,200 prize pool has been created, NZ$93,600 of which has been reserved for the eventual champion.
Throughout much of the day it was Tim Woods who held a chip lead over the field, but all of his chips would end up in Huang’s stack. Amazingly, Huang has already made two previous ANZPT Queenstown Main Event final tables (in 2010 and 2012) and will be looking to make it a third this year.
Some of those who will be joining Huang at the felt for tomorrow’s Day 2, albeit with not nearly as many chips, include Alex Lynskey, 2012 ANZPT Auckland champion Geoff Smith and the reigning ANZPT Queenstown champion Dave Allan . Brad Bower, Tristain Bain, Iori Yogo and PokerStars Team Online Roy Bhasin were a few of those from Day 1c who will not be at the tables for Day 2 action.

Remember that while the schedule stated there would be two Day 2 flights played tomorrow, that has now been changed and there will only be one Day 2 flight, beginning at 2.00pm local time. That means a combined 66 survivors from all the three Day 1 flights will partake in Day 2 tomorrow. Pause the Clock, Deal Four More

The tournament clock has been paused and the players are being dealt four more hands before calling it a night. Right now there are around 18 players surviving and it is very unlikely and player will be able to surpass the monster stack of Bryan Huang. Huang Wins Huge, First Player Over Six Figures

Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang has been to Queenstown for the ANZPT twice in his career and both times he has made the final table. In 2012 Huang finished in 7th and in 2010 he finished in 9th. Now, in 2013, he has made a good start towards making a third final table.
It started with Huang opening to 900 from the hijack. The player on the button three-bet to 3,000 and it was on Tim Woods in the big blind. He flat-called and it was back on Huang. After a few moments Huang four-bet to 12,000. The button player folded here and it was back on Woods, who five-bet to 25,000. Huang moved all in here and Woods sort of gave a shrug before making the all-in call.

Huang was looking great to be the first player to move to a six-figure stack and the news only got better when a 
flop was spread on the felt. The 
turn made Huang cringe as Woods now had a straight draw, but the 
river was safe and just like that, Woods was eliminated, while Huang now has a monster and will likely be the end-of-day chip leader.

Good Call from Huang

Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang and and Tim Woods have been on the same table all day and have rumbled in a few pots several times. Huang was recently on the winning end of one of these hands. It started with Woods opening the hijack to 1,000. Huang called out of the small blind and the player in the big blind also made the call.
The 
flop would see the play checked over to Woods, who bet 1,000. Huang made a fairly quick call, while the big blind got out of the way. Both Woods and Huang checked the 
turn and a 
completed the board on the river. Huang again tapped the table here and Woods flicked out a bet of 3,000. Huang called and Woods tabled his for nothing but ten-high. Huang turned over his 
, with his ace-high good to win the pot.
