Dan Neilson has picked up where he left off on Day 1b by winning the first three pots of the day. In the first hand, he raised from under the gun and took down the pot uncontested. Next hand he received a walk in the small blind, before Ben McLean tried to get in on the action with a raise from the cutoff on the third hand of the day. McLean made it 12,000 but Neilson three-bet from the small blind to 31,000. McLean thought for a bit before giving it up.
Luke Brabin is seeking valuable ANZ Player of the Year points for the top 63 and his chances looked like improving when he got his short stack of around 40,000 all in preflop with against Dale Marsland’s . However the board ran out to double pair the board to see the players chop the pot.
“You were about 90% to chop there Dale,” laughed tablemate Josh Barrett, although Brabin probably couldn’t see the funny side as he misses a much-needed double up.
The hand started with the player in middle position opening to 10,000. Gautam Dhingra made the call from the button, as did the player on the big blind, as the flop came down . With the action checked around to Dhingra, he casually placed out a bet of 14,000 which received a snap-fold then a snap-call from the original raiser. The turn came the and without hesitation, Dhingra’s opponent threw out a bet of 20,000 which was rewarded with a muck a minute later.

Josh Barrett opened the action with a raise from the cutoff to 10,000 before Day 1c chip leader Edo Naftaly three-bet to 23,000 from the button. Simon Rustom was in the big blind and he flat called, with Barrett coming along to see a flop of .
Rustom didn’t hesitate before moving all in for his last 46,000 and Barrett instantly called, but Naftaly wasn’t done with just yet as he announced himself all in! Barrett and Naftaly were a good 300,000 chips deep, as Barrett rolled his eyes and open-mucked . Rustom showed for the same hand but with the flush draw as Naftaly was actually trailing with his .
That was until the rolled off with Barrett giving a wry smile as his fold proved to be a good one in the end. The river was the to see Rustom eliminated as Naftaly climbs to around 550,000 in chips.
