After another thirteen levels of play on the second starting day in the PokerStars.net Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Melbourne Repechage Main Event, the chip leader ended up being Daniel Neilson with a whopping 613,000 in chips. A total of 252 players registered for Day 1b creating a 476-player field so far. Only 28 survived, which is surprisingly less then yesterday’s numbers, even though more entered today.

Many players returned for a second chance at taking a stack through but were unsuccessful. These include Dave Allen, Kristian Lunardi, Ricky Kroesen, Tom Grigg, Tony Tartaglia, Amanda De Cesare, Graeme Putt, Jarrod Glennon, Didier Guerin, Liam O’Rourke, Ashley Warner, Andrew Hinrichsen and Peter Aristidou. They’ll all have one more attempt in Day 1c coming up tomorrow.

Some players who didn’t have a good first day, but made up for it today include Michael Kanaan (121,500), Pravin Harji (131,500) and the eventual end of day chip leader, Daniel Neilson. His 613,000 almost doubles that of Day 1a chip leader Anthony Hachem’s monstrous stack of 386,000. Neilson seemed to have it all his way, and never looked back after a big hand during the end of the day propelled him to almost 400,000 in chips.

Tomorrow will see the last of the Day 1 flights take place, with many new faces, as well as returning eliminated players, all vying to make it through to the end of play, and progressing further in the tournament.
