Chidwick Starting to Build

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Stephen Chidwick is arguably the most notable player remaining in today's field and he's currently proving why as he moves his stack towards 40,000.

We recently watched Chidwick scoop up a pot on a {6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Spades} board. He was in the small blind position against one opponent, from the cutoff. We picked up the action on the turn, with Chidwick leading out for 2,600. His opponent called and then on the river Chidwick bet 5,000. Another call and Chidwick turned over {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for two pair. That was enough to win the pot!

Pedley Gets Aggresssive

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Michael Pedley has just got aggressive to win a big pot on the turn of a {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} board.

We arrived to to find the action being checked to Pedley on the flop, at which point he bet 1,700. Patrick Healy was next to act and raised it up to 4,200. The player directly on Healy's left made the call and it was back on Pedley. After studying Healy's stack, Pedley opted to raise it up to 9,000. Healy folded, while the next player to act made the call.

On the turn, it was checked to Pedley, who thought for quite a while before moving all in for 26,125 in chips, though only 12,000 effective. Eventually the player decided to fold and the hefty pot went to Pedley. He's now one of the chip leaders.

Kastle Out-Kicking

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Casey Kastle recently took down a pot against one opponent on a {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds} board. We arrived on the turn to see Kastle betting 500 which was flat-called. On the river, Kastle checked and then called when his opponent bet 900. At showdown, Kastle's {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} out-kicked {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

Flush Good For Volkoff

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

One of the few ladies in today's field, Tamara Volkoff, has just scooped up a handy pot.

The hand began with Alexander Debus opening to 500 from the cut off. Volkoff called on the button and Martin Finger came along for the ride from the big blind. On the {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Spades} flop, it was checked to Volkoff who bet 1,000. Finger was the long caller and with that, the dealer flipped over a {3-Clubs} on the turn. This time both players checked and a {q-Spades} completed the board on the river.

Finger led with a bet that looked like 1,500 but we couldn't get a proper look as Volkoff instantly called to see Finger's {k-}{q-} into the muck when Volkoff showed {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a flush.

Demlakian Dusted, Twohig Crushing

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

ANZPT regular Ken Demlakian has just hit the rail. We arrived at the aftermath of the hand which saw Demlakian's {k-}{k-} out on the felt against Adam Twohig's {a-}{a-}. The board showed {5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{5-Clubs} with the quad aces far too strong for Demlakian's cowboys!

Apparently all the chips went in on the turn, with Demlakian commenting that he could have folded with one ace out there, but not with two. Regardless, Twohig is now one of the chip leaders with a stack over 50,000.

Michael Pedley

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Michael Pedley has just managed to send a player home. We arrived with the player already heading to the rail and with Pedley's {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} out on the felt with a {7-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} board showing. Whatever Pedley's opponent had, it wasn't strong enough for Pedley's pocket kings and so he was eliminated while Pedley was up to around 30,000.
