Toothpick No More

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

The Toothpick has been cut. Antonis Kambouroglou, otherwise known as “Toothpick Tony” has run out of patience, and chips, here in the ANZPT Melbourne Main Event.

The flop read {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts} when Kambouroglou moved all in for his last 16,300 over the top of a continuation bet of around 5,000. His opponent thought before making the call with {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} to have the Toothpick in trouble with his ambitious {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} which reduced Kambouroglou’s outs further and the {4-Clubs} river was a brick to see Kambouroglou make a quick exit.

That's Not a Good River For Roy

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

PokerStars Team Online Roy Bhasin was looking like he was about to be the chip leader here on Day 1a of the ANZPT Melbourne Main Event. He, and one opponent, got all the chips in on the turn of a {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} board. Bhasin had around 30,000 behind at this point, while his at-risk opponent had 15,000. Here is what the cards looked like:

Bhasin: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

"Get high!" the at-risk player yelled, hoping for a split pot, even though it wouldn't have actually helped.

River: {8-Hearts}

That was better than he hoped but terrible for Bhasin.

The full house sent the double up to one player, while Bhasin is down to 15,000.

Croc Makes the Right Fold

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Billy “The Croc” Argyros has taken a hit to his stack, but he’s thankful that it hasn’t cost his entire tournament. Argyros opened to 1,400 from middle position and was called by Jason Pritchard in position to see a flop of {3-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}.

Argyros led out for 2,500 before Pritchard responded by moving all in. Argyros had 8,500 behind and after some thought, he let it go as Pritchard flashed the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}.

“I got lucky!” chirped Argryos, “I had a pair!”

Argyros has some work ahead of him with his last 8,500 chips.

Lynskey Building a Stack

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Alex Lynskey is starting to move towards the chip lead.

We recently watched Lynskey scoop up a handy pot on a {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{k-Spades} board. By the time we arrived at the action, it was at
showdown, and Lynskey’s opponent was busy mucking. Lynskey, on the other hand, had tabled {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} to win the pot.

Lynskey is up to 75,000.
