Former ANZPT Queenstown champ has just pushed a player around on a flop. Allan was in the hi-jack position, while his opponent was on his direct left in the cut off. There was plenty already in the pot, with the action clearly being at least three-bet preflop.
We watched Allan check and his opponent bet 2,500. After a few moments, Allan moved all in, with the player having what looked like around 15,000 behind. The player tanked, squirming in his chair. Eventually he folded, dejectedly tabling his face up.
Jason Pritchard has posted plenty of tournament results in events all around the country, six-figures in fact, but he has never really posted a big victory. He’s here in the Day 1a field and looking to make an impact, however, he will have to do a little better than how he fared in the following hand.
We picked up the action on the turn of a board, with towards 10,000 already in the pot and with Pritchard and two opponents checking. The river was a and this time when it was checked to Pritchard, he would bet 4,300. One player called and Prtichard showed for a whole lot of nothing. The other player’s was good enough to see Pritchard say, “nice check,” as he is down to around 15,000.
The players won't be too excited to hear a live band begin blaring through the walls in a room right next to the poker room. Having poker tables among the action of a gaming floor is a very positive thing in many ways as recreational players and general punters might get the itch to sit at the poker tables, but right we are witnessing a reason being in the thick of casino floor can be a bad thing.
Hopefully the music won't last all night so the players can continue to make those tough decisions in peace.
Here are the approximate stacks of some of the players here during the third level of Day 1a. As you can see, former ANZ Player of the Year runner-up Anthony Aston is crushing, currently on around 60,000.
