Gao Gutted

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Jie Gao just recalled to us the story behind the crippling blow that has left him with just 30,000 in chips.

Gao had pocket kings against Nathan Sawyers’ queen-jack, but a jack on the flop and another on the river gave Sawyers the double and left Gao in deep trouble.

Tompkins Gone in 32nd

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Alex Lee has disposed of Jason Tompkins in 32nd place with the two colliding on a flop of {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Lee pushed with a creative {3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a pair and flush draw against Tompkins’ {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} overpair.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} to give Lee the unbeatable flush while the {10-Hearts} river was just salt in the wound. Tompkins heads off to the cashier as Lee is back up to 650,000 in chips after losing some early.

Last Lady Gone as Down to 24

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We’ve lost our last two female players with Swaran Chand and Eva Docekalova hitting the rail.

Docekalova’s last chips were all in preflop with {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} against the pocket sevens of Nathan Glase. Docekalova needed some help but

it didn’t arrive on the board of {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds} as she was eliminated in 25th place.

At the same time Chand was eliminated on another table to leave us with no more ladies in our final 24 players.

Glase Gone as Mathers Gets Richer

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Nathan Glase is the latest player to hit the rail. He was eliminated in 24th place.

All of Glase's chips went to Jazz Mathers.

It was a bit of a cooler.

Mathers was in the small blind holding {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, while Glase had {k-}{q-}.

Flop: {5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

As you can imagine, all the chips went in here and with a {9-Spades} turn and a {3-Hearts} river completing the board, Glase was sent home.

Mathers is up to well over 1 million and is the standout chip leader.

Doumit Done in 23rd; Neilson Out in 22nd

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Two eliminations just occurred at almost the exact same time.

First Jim Doumit was eliminated in 23rd place.

Then moments later Daniel Neilson was out in 22nd place.

Neilson's elimination was quite brutal as he recalled to us what happened.

Apparently Neilson opened with a raise from under the gun holding {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. One opponent three-bet small, the big blind called and so did Neilson.

Neilson then flopped the nuts and a Royal Flush draw to go along with it - {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Neilson got his stack of around 260,000 in here and was looking good against {j-}{j-}.

The turn was a safe {q-}, but the {2-} river meant Neilson had ran into the full house to be eliminated.
