When Day 3 of ANZPT Sydney began there were 37 players all hoping to make it through the day and secure a spot on the final table. There were a steady stream of eliminations throughout the day which would ultimately last around six levels. Anthony Aston (33rd), Katie Sekhas (30th), Mel Judah (29th), Jie Gao (27th), Daniel Neilson (22nd), start-of-day chip leader Alex Lee (20th) and Edison Nguyen (19th) were a few of those not table to make it to the final two tables.

From there, Sean Knight (18th), Nicholas Polias (17th) and Murray Roach (16th) were quickly eliminated, while Peter Baars (15th), Karam Bahl (14th), Robert Spano (13th), Adrian Attenborough (12th) and John Parker (11th) all got so close to making the final nine.

The final hand of the day would see Andrew Michael hit the rail as the final table bubble boy with a consolation prize of $11,450, which you can read about in the live reporting blog below, while the ANZPT Sydney payout page has all the important prize pool information.

Andrew Michael Out in 10th, Final Table Set

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

And just like that we are at the final table!

The final hand of Day 3 of the ANZPT Sydney Main Event saw Andrew Michael shove from the cutoff for just around 15 big blinds holding {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Jazz Mathers re-shipped his big stack in from the small blind holding {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and with that Michaels was not looking good.

The {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop gave Mathers a set, but gave Michael a few outs to the straight draw, while the {8-Diamonds} turn gave him even more.

But the {a-Diamonds} sealed the deal and with that Michael was eliminated in 10th place, collecting $11,450!

Following this hand Mathers will be our final table chip leader!

Stay tuned for the final table seating draw and a recap of the day’s action.

Nathan Surging

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Joshua Redhouse continues to cop a battering following the dinner break. This time it was in a hand against Nathan Sawyers.

With the flop reading {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, there was a bet of 76,000 in front of Redhouse who was under the gun, but Sawyers had popped that to 170,000 from the big blind. Redhouse thought long and hard before calling as the {q-Hearts} appeared on the turn.

Sawyers came out swinging with another bet of 220,000 to which Redhouse sighed, flashed the {K-Spades} and folded. Sawyers raked in the pot, saying he flopped a set of sixes to climb to 1.3 million as Redhouse drops below seven figures.

Gill Gets Some Chips

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Oliver Gill is up to around 650,000 after winning a handy pot off Peco Stojanovic.

It started when the action was folded to Stojanovic in the small blind. He limped in and Gill checked from the big blind.

The {7-Spades}{q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop would see Stpojanovic lead for 30,000 and Gill raise it up to 75,000. Stojanovic called.

On the {j-Diamonds} turn, Stojanovic led for 75,000 and Gill moved all in for 406,000.

"What are you repping? Nine-Ten?" Asked Stojanovic before eventually folding.

Gill showed the {10-Spades} as he raked in the pot.

Peco Building

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

With the flop reading {2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, both Peco Stojanovski and Joshua Redhouse committed 80,000 to see the {7-Hearts} hit the turn.
Redhouse checked to Stojanovski on the button who bet 120,000. Redhouse quickly called and the {A-Hearts} appeared on the river. Redhouse checked again and Stojanovski checked behind before opening {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for a pair of aces.

“River!” exclaimed Stojanovski as Redhouse flashed {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} and tossed them muckwards. The dinner break leader is down to 1.15 million with Stojanovski now up to 1.25 million.

Miracle Milan

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Milan Gurung was just about to be eliminated and we were just about to be at our final table!

He was all in from the big blind for 229,000 holding {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} against the {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} of Rory Young.

The {4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop gave Gurung a set, but Young hit the flush to leave Gurung struggling.

The {9-Clubs} turn didn't change too much, but the {9-Spades} river gave Gurung a full house to double!

Ten-handed action continues.

Parker Out In 11th As Final Table Bubble Begins

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

John Parker was the last Kiwi in the field but his time in the ANZPT Sydney Main Event is now over.

Parker was short and moved all in with {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} with Nathan Sawyers making the call with {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.

The board bricked out {9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to see Sawyers rake in the chips and eliminate Parker in 11th place.

That puts us on the final table bubble.

We’re playing two five-handed tables and we can confirm that play will be stopping this evening once we have one more elimination.
