Tompkins Gone in 32nd

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Alex Lee has disposed of Jason Tompkins in 32nd place with the two colliding on a flop of {2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Lee pushed with a creative {3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a pair and flush draw against Tompkins’ {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} overpair.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} to give Lee the unbeatable flush while the {10-Hearts} river was just salt in the wound. Tompkins heads off to the cashier as Lee is back up to 650,000 in chips after losing some early.

Counts on Table 3

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Here are the current approximate stacks of the players on Table 3.

Level: 18

Blinds: 4,000/8,000

Ante: 1,000

Gao Gutted

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Jie Gao just recalled to us the story behind the crippling blow that has left him with just 30,000 in chips.

Gao had pocket kings against Nathan Sawyers’ queen-jack, but a jack on the flop and another on the river gave Sawyers the double and left Gao in deep trouble.

Counts On Table 2 and One More Out

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We recently went over to count the stacks on Table 2. You can find the approximate counts below.

While we were doing this, we noticed Anthony Aston over by the payout desk. He finished in 33rd place.

Tanja No More

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

One more player down!

Tanja Vujanic was just eliminated in 34th place.

She was all in preflop holding {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and was up against Milan Gurung with {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

The {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop prompted Vujanic to say, "more outs," but those wouldn't fall on the {4-Clubs} turn or the {j-Spades} river.

Vujanic pockets $4,600.

Edison Snags The Double

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Edison Nguyen was in early position when he looked down at {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

He shoved for 64,000.

The action folded around to Robert Spano in the small blind, he had a look at {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}, and made the flat-call to put Nguyen at risk.

The {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board was good for Nguyen as he scooped the double.

Triple Up Survival

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

John Parker has done better than just double up his short stack, he’s landed a big triple up to stay alive.

Parker moved all in from early position for his last 69,000. Jazz Mathers called before Adam Martinsson moved all in for another 62,000 on top. Mathers was committed with his {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} but trailed both Parker’s {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Martinsson’s {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Spades} to see Parker pull a flush with his second-best hand to scoop the pot. There was some confusion over the side pot, but eventually that was paid off as well as Martinsson pretty much broke even.

Siers Next One Down

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Baraniko Siers has just been eliminated in 35th place.

He held {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} when he got all his chips in on a {5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. His opponent, Rory Young, held {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}.
Siers needed some help, but with Young having two of his outs, ultimately Siers wouldn’t get there as the {6-Spades} turn and the {6-Diamonds}
river sent him to the rail.

Day Kicks Off With Double Elimination

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

There’s nothing like a double knock-out to kick a day into action

Especially if you are Jazz Mathers.

It started with Michael Frydman opened it up to 13,000 from early position. Phillip Dong three-bet all in for 42,000 from the hijack, Muhammad Khan called from the cut off and Jazz Mathers called from the button. Back on Frydman and he tank-called.

Dong was at risk and looking to quadruple up and then some.

The {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop would see Frydman check, Khan bet 35,000 and both Mathers and Frydman called. All three players checked the {8-Hearts} turn and a {7-Spades} was dealt on the river. This time when it was checked to Mathers, he would bet 275,000. Frydman moved all in for less, Khan got out of the way and two players were at risk.

Mathers immediately tabled his {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered full house.

Dong got out of his seat, showing his {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} as he did so.

Frydman also got out of his seat, opting to muck his cards, but he said he had pocket nines for a straight.

Dong was officially sent home in 37th place, while Frydman took 36th.

Mathers is moving up toward 1 million in chips.
