Sunny Days for Wintermans

Keith Wintermans, who started the day with only 6,700 in chips, is now sitting pretty with around 175,000 after he flopped a set of deuces on a {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop. His opponent tried an all-in check-raise with {A-Clubs}{K-?} but ran into trouble as Wintermans snap-called.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and river the {Q-Clubs} to give Wintermans a mighty stack as we enter the money stage of the tournament.

John Juanda wearing a face mask today, we assume due to the smokers on the rail
The player under the gun opened with a raise to 5,500 before the Michael Jackson of poker, John Juanda popped it up an additional 11,000 from the cutoff. The blinds folded and the UTG player called.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and it was checked to Juanda who fired out 12,000. His opponent then check-raised all in and Juanda made a quick call. Juanda flipped {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} to be in great shape against his opponent's ambitious play with {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and river the {4-Clubs} to give Juanda a huge double-up to 110,000 in chips!

Hicks Stack on the Rise

Kenneth Hicks is chipping up. He called the all-in bet of a short-stacked player for 10,000, as did Xinzheng Xu. On the {j-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts} flop, Hicks bet 20,000 and Xu called. When the turn came {10-?}, Hicks moved all in for 80,000, bringing a fold from Xu. Hicks showed {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} for the main pot and was ahead of the short stack's {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. He stayed that way on the {3-Diamonds} river.

Tiikkaja Suffers a Huge Blow

As the bubble approaches, Taneli Tiikkaja has lost a huge pot to Tian Chen. With the board reading {4-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts}, Tiikkaja check-raised all in. Chen snap-called and tabled {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}. Tiikkaja was drawing dead with {j-?} {9-?} but managed to make two pair on the {J-Hearts} river anyway. Chen is now up to 340,000 while Tiikkaja has to be content with just 93,000.

Chuck Truck Looks Three Lanes Wide

All the other players are just speed bumps in the path of Charles Chua right now. He bet 10,000 on the turn of a {7-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} board. Emad Tahtouh, his lone opponent, tanked before making the call. On the river {7-Hearts}, Chua bet 20,000. Tahtouh snap-called with {K-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} for trips but couldn't beat Chua's {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} for a full house.

Tahtouh slammed the table in frustration. "What a f*cking river!" he shouted.

Men Nguyen Eliminated by Ole Johan Steinvik

School is over for The Master
School is over for The Master
Men "The Master" Nguyen has crashed out of today's tournament in dramatic fashion. After all the chips were in the middle preflop against Ole Johan Steinvik, Nguyen appeared to be in good shape with his {A-?}{A-?} against Steinvik's {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

However the flop fell {3-Spades}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades} to give Steinvik a set of queens and the lead in the hand. The turn brought the {8-Diamonds} and the river the {J-Clubs} to end the day for "The Master."

Steinvik is now up to 130,000.
