Low End of the Straight is Good Enough

Lots of people in lots of pots means lots of action. Tae Jun Noh opened the last pot to 35,000 from the button and was called by Van Marcus and Hyoung Jin Nam. All players checked the {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} flop and the {10-Spades} turn. On the river {A-Spades}, Nam bet 20,000 and was called by both of his opponents. He showed ace-king for a single pair, which wasn't as good as Marcus two pair with {A-?} {8-?}. However, Noh had the best hand of all, tabling pocket sixes for a straight to the ten.

Nam Flushed With Chips

Hyoung Jin Nam likes to limp and once again he limped into a pot from under the gun. Michael Chang then raised to 65,000 on the button. Tae Jun Noh folded the small blind, Van Marcus then called in the big blind, with Nam making the call also.

With over 200,000 already in the pot, the flop came down a monotone {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and all three players checked. The {4-Clubs} hit the turn and again play checked through.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and Marcus checked to Nam who fired out a small bet of 20,000. Both opponents made the call! Nam tabled {J-Clubs}{10-Spades} for the jack-high flush which was the best hand as Marcus revealed {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and Chang mucked.

Marcus Opening Things Up

Now that he finally has a stack to work with (for the first time all day), Van Marcus seems eager to start swinging it. After Tae Jun Noh opened the pot to 35,000, Marcus reraised to 135,000, practically slamming the chips down onto the felt. That scared everyone else away.

Marcus Plays The Rush

Hyoung Jin Nam raised to 35,000 from the button and Van Marcus, now with chips to spare, called out of the small blind.

The flop was {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and both players checked. The {Q-Diamonds} hit the turn and again the action was checked through. The river was the {3-Spades} and Marcus led out with a bet of 50,000. Nam made the call but wasn't happy to see Marcus table {J-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for the straight.

The wheels are turning for Van Marcus once again as he's now up over 600,000 chips and looking strong.

Van Marcus Doubles... Again

We've run out of descriptions to describe Van Marcus' success in this tournament. He's been all in numerous times without busting. This time he got his chips in good. He made it 42,000 to go preflop and was called by Tae Jun Noh from the big blind. Noh checked the {10-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {8-Spades} flop, then called a bet of 60,000 from Marcus. When the {4-Hearts} hit the turn, Noh moved all in. Marcus snap-called all in for his last 148,000, tabling {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} as if it were the nuts. It wasn't the nuts, but it was definitely ahead of Noh's {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts}. It was the winner when the river fell {A-Diamonds}.

Marcus now has just slightly more than 500,000 in chips.

Chang Clips Marcus

From the button, Van Marcus made it 42,000 to go. Hyoung Jin Nam folded his small blind, before Michael Chang announced a re-raise, bumping it up an additional 94,000. Marcus thought for several minutes, eyeballing his opponent up and down, before finally releasing his hand.

Marcus Still Fighting

It was an unraised pot between the players in the blinds, Tae Jun Noh and short stack Van Marcus. On a flop of {3-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {K-Spades}, Noh led out for 32,000, perhaps hoping to win the pot right there. Marcus would have none of it, raising Noh to 132,000. Noh snap-mucked.

Another Pot For Nam

Hyoung Jin Nam limped from under the gun before Michael Chang bumped it up to 45,000 from the button. The blinds folded and Nam made the call.

The flop was {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{K-Hearts} and both players checked. The {6-Spades} hit the turn and Nam checked to Chang who fired out 50,000. Nam made a very quick call.

The {2-Diamonds} hit the river and both players checked it down. Nam tabled {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for two pair, kings and queens, which was good to take the pot as Chang mucked his cards.

Nam Widens His Lead

Hyoung Jin Nam
Hyoung Jin Nam
Hyoung Jin Nam has taken a big bite out of Michael Chang's stack in a curious hand. Tae Jun Noh opened the betting with a minimum-raise to 32,000. After Van Marcus folded, Nam re-raised to 64,000. Chang, sitting behind him in the big blind, four-bet to 146,000. Noh quickly folded, but Jin, getting three-to-one on his money, made the call.

The flop came {5-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {J-Hearts}. Jin checked, then moved all in after Chang made it 150,000 to go. Chang was not amused by that turn of events, but folded soon afterwards.

Noh Chips Up

Tae Jun Noh raised to 32,000, not the first time he has raised the minimum amount today, and Nam called in the big blind.

The board of {2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{A-Spades} was checked through to the river where Noh fired out 20,000 to take down the pot.
