Nam Begins the Long Climb Back

Things are getting testy at the final table. Hyoung Jin Nam, who had one time had a commanding chip lead, seems to be steaming slightly now that he's in third place. He called a raise by Van Marcus to 85,000, then check-called a bet of 95,000 on a flop of {J-Spades} {J-Clubs} {4-Hearts}. Both players checked through the {5-Clubs} turn and the {K-Hearts} river. Nam triumphantly slammed down {2-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} at showdown and collected the pot when Marcus mucked.

Aussies Find Voice

Van Marcus raised to 80,000 on the button and Hyoung Jin Nam called in the small blind. They took a flop of {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} where Nam checked over to Marcus who bet out strongly for 95,000. Nam folded and the Aussies on the rail find voice as Marcus takes it down.

Dead Even

Don't look now, but the three remaining players all have similarly sized chip stacks. Van Marcus and Tae Jun Noh are in a virtual dead heat with roughly 980,000. Hyoung Jin Nam is bringing up the rear with a touch more than 800,000.

Nam Gets One Back

In a limped pot, the three players took a flop of {2-Clubs}{A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Tae Jun Noh bet out 30,000 from the small blind, Van Marcus folded the big blind and Hyoung Jin Nam made the call on the button.

The turn was the {7-Clubs} and Noh checked over to Nam who fired 50,000. Noh made the call. The river brought the {7-Spades} and Noh checked again to Nam who immediately slid 100,000 into the middle. Noh gave it up and Nam gets one back.

Slowly But Surely

We're getting somewhere. We think. We hope. Another small pot has gone away from Hyoung Jin Nam, this time to Van Marcus. The two men took an unraised flop of {6-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} and check to the {9-Hearts} turn. Marcus bet 35,000, then snap-called a raise to 85,000 by Nam. Both players checked the {3-Clubs} river, with Marcus' {A-Clubs} {2-Spades} taking down the pot.

We Have a New Chip Leader

Tae Jun Noh, new chip leader!
Tae Jun Noh, new chip leader!
Tae Jun Noh min-raised to 60,000 from the button and Hyoung Jin Nam was the lone caller from the big blind.

The board of {4-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{A-Spades} was checked to the turn where Noh fired out 30,000. Nam made the call.

The river was the {5-Clubs} Nam checked to Noh who fired another barrel worth 70,000. Nam shook his head in disgust before calling. Nam tabled {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades} but Noh held {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for two pair to collect another pot. Noh would now be our chip leader as all three players are now fairly even in chips.

At Least He Didn't Check

Tae Jun Noh raised the pot from the small blind, making it 70,000 to go. Van Marcus was undeterred and made the call. On the flop of {10-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, Noh checked to Marcus. Bucking the trend of recent hands, Marcus actually bet the flop, bringing out 80,000 chips. Noh quickly folded.

Showdown Poker

Tae Jun Noh raised to 64,000 on the button and Hyoung Jin Nam made the call in the big blind.

The board fell {8-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs} and again it's checked all the way to showdown. Noh held king-high as Nam tabled {4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a baby pair which was good to collect the pot.

Still Cautious

It's another small pot for Tae Jun Noh, but he appears to have missed a few bets along the way. He and Hyoung Jin Nam took an unraised flop of {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. Both players checked. on the {7-Diamonds} turn, Noh bet 70,000 and Jin called. We expected further action on the {2-Diamonds} river, but both players shut down with checks. Noh turned over {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} for top pair, solid kicker to take down the pot.

Pocket Pairs, But No Action

Tae Jun Noh raised to 60,000 from the button. Van Marcus folded in the small blind and Hyoung Jin Nam made the call in the big blind.

The board was {J-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and wouldn't you know it, it was checked down by both players. Nam showed down {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} but was bested by Noh's {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Another small pot for Noh.
