A Mercifully Early End to Day 3
The action was fast and furious from the word "go" on Day 3, with two players -- David Lee and Jimmy Wong -- busting out on the very first hand. The ranks continued to thin out as the blind relentlessly increased. No player was ever able to take an overwhelming chip lead, although a few flirted with cruising past the 2,000,000-chip mark. At the end of the night, Antonio Fazzolari found himself with the chip lead, having amassed 1,775,000 chips.
The home team is well-represented at the final table, with seven of the nine seats reserved for Australian players. The other two will be filled by a Canadian and a Pole. The seat assignments and chip counts for the nine who waded their way through this field of 477 to one of the final nine spots are:
Seat 1: Martin Rowe - 995,000
Seat 2: Jason Gray - 1,188,000
Seat 3: Tony Basile - 863,000
Seat 4: Timothy English - 945,000
Seat 5: Daniel Kowalski - 959,000
Seat 6: Frank Saffioti - 790,000
Seat 7: Tom Rafferty - 1,101,000
Seat 8: Antonio Fazzolari - 1,775,000 (chip leader)
Seat 9: Hai Bo Chu - 781,000
