Hall Can't Get Away

It was a five-way pot that each player paid 1,000 chips to enter before the flop. Action checked all the way to the river, {3-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {4-Spades} {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. That's where the big blind finally opened the betting with a bet of 2,500. Tom Hall called from late position before the small blind check-raised to 8,500. The big blind released his hand, but Hall couldn't do the same. He sighed, shook his head, and then announced a call in a tone as if to say he knew he was beat. He was; his two pair {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} was second-best to the straight of the small blind, {A-Clubs} {6-Clubs}.

Chris Lee Rampaging

Chris Lee is on a rampage at the moment. He looks set to become the first player over 100,000 in chips.

Most recently he found {k-?}{k-?} up against an all in opponent with {9-?}{9-?}. He was able to improve his hand to a set when a {k-?} hit the turn.

That would be enough for him to claim yet another scalp.

He currently has 98,000 in chips.

Nathaniel Seet Doubles Up In Big Preflop Pot

Preflop was as good a time as any for Nathaniel Seet and his opponent to get all the chips in the middle.

Seet had the best of it with {A-Diamonds}{a-Spades} against the {A-Hearts}{k-Clubs} of his opponent. It only got better with the {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, reducing the chance of being outdrawn dramatically.

The {2-Spades} and {4-Clubs} completed the board and Seet doubled up to 65,000.

Power Poker, by Tony Dunst

Tony Dunst
Tony Dunst
Sometimes poker is easy. Bet and win. If that doesn't work, raise and win. Tony Dunst took the latter approach on a board of {8-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}. His opponent opened the action for 2,800. Dunst raised that bet to 8,800 and took down the pot right there.

Johnny Hanes Hooks Another

Johnny Hanes
Johnny Hanes
Johnny Hanes continues to roll here on day 1b.

Most recently Hanes opened preflop to 11,000 and found four players happy to take a flop.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Hayne bet out 2,300 and two players continued to the turn {6-Diamonds}.

On the turn Hayne checked, and one of his opponent's moved all in for 7,400. The other opponent folded out of the way leaving it to Hanes.

He took his time making the decision.

"I feel like you got a five?" probed Hanes.

"Thanks for the respect" replied the opponent in a European accent.

"You don't have an overpair?" Hanes asked.

"Of course not" replied the opponent.

That was enough information for Hanes, who moved the call amount into the middle.

The opponent had an overpair indeed, flipping over {Q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, as did Hanes with the bigger {A-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

The river bricked off the {7-Diamonds} to move Hanes over 50,000.

Small Pots on Table 4

Over on Table 4, we have Mike Spinasanta (one of the chip leaders), the always-solid Tom Hall and the 2009 APPT Macau High Rollers champion, Vladimir Geshkenbein. You might think that line-up would produce lots of action but so far they seem to be avoiding each other. A recent pot was folded to Hall's small blind. He limped in, then called Geshkenbein's raise to 1,400. Hall checked and folded to a bet on a flop of {A-?} {9-?} {3-?} board. Geshkenbein showed {A-?} {3-?}!
