It's Gettin' Hot in Here

The players have had some complaints about how hot it is under the spotlights on the final table. During one of the recent breaks, even a dealer asked for some water.

No, we haven't miraculously eliminated four players to get to heads-up play, but there's is a heads-up tournament going on in the pit below the stage. There's currently nine players left out of the 32 that started. Six of them are playing their quarterfinal match while two are still playing a match from the previous round. That means there's one player in the waiting for that match to complete so he can continue on.

One of the quarterfinal matches going on is David Saab versus Team PokerStars Pro and former WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem. Hachem has a slight lead at last look. Tino Lechich is also in a quarterfinal match.

The top four spots will be paid and they plan to finish it all tonight. We'll try and keep you posted once in a while.

Barry Forrester Eliminated in 7th Place ($83,160)

Aussie Barry Forrester has just been eliminated from the APPT Sydney Grand Final Main Event.

Ernst Hermans opened the pot with a raise to 95,000 from under-the-gun and then action folded around the table to Andrew Hiscox who three-bet to 200,000 from the hijack. Leo Boxell folded from the cutoff and when the action reached Forrester on the button, he moved all in for a total of 875,000. Hermans laid down his hand, but Hiscox made the call, tabling {A-Spades}

. Forrester found himself in bad shape with the {A-Clubs}

The

board changed nothing and Hiscox took down the pot with two pair, aces and eights, with a king kicker.

Forrester will take home $83,160 in prize money for his 7th place finish. Meanwhile, Hiscox stacked up 2.15 million in chips with the win.

Hermans Drops One to Grigg

Tom Grigg opened the pot with a raise to 100,000 from middle position. Ernst Hermans made the call behind and the two saw a {K-Diamonds}

flop, which both checked.

The turn brought the {10-Spades}

and Grigg fired 125,000. Hermans called again.

The last card off the deck was the {Q-Hearts}

and Grigg fired a major league bet of 275,000 which was again called by Hermans.

At the showdown, Grigg tabled {K-Spades}

{Jd] for a Broadway straight and Hermans mucked.

Grigg piled up 2.55 million in chips after the hand while Hermans dropped back down to 2.9 million.

Benton Loosening Up

Aaron Benton stepped away from the table after winning that last big pot and yelled up to his railbirds that he was going to start loosening up a bit.

Motioning his hands as if he was pushing chips into an imaginary pot, Benton said: "I'm just going to start shoving and getting in there now, baby!" A few minutes later, another beer arrived for him.

Benton Showing Off His Hand

Aaron Benton raised to 100,000 from the cutoff seat and Wayne Carlson called from the big blind. The two players saw a flop of {A-Hearts}

and Carlson checked. benton fired 300,000 and Carlson called.

The turn card was the {5-Spades}

. Carlson checked and Benton fired all in for 547,000. Carlson went into the tank. He looked very uncomfortable about the decision at hand and spent several minutes mulling over it. Eventually, he mucked his hand and Benton tabled {A-Spades}

to show off his hand. He and Carlson are now up to 1.35 million each.

Carlson mentioned he held the same hand.
