Ernst Earns the Double

Ernst Hermans three-bet shoved for 160,000 over the top of Mladen Ivin's raise. Ivin had opened from the small blind after action folded to him for 26,000. Hermans was in the big blind.

Ivin made the call and held the smallest pocket pair one could hold, pocket deuces. His {2-Spades} {2-Clubs} was up against Hermans' {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs}.

After flopping top pair, Hermans went on to double through as the board ran out {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {7-Spades}. He now has 350,000 chips while Ivin dropped down to 110,000 and now has less than 10 big blinds.

Linas Leonovas Eliminated in 20th Place ($16,632)

Linas Leonovas raised to 30,000 in prelop action and David Saghabi reraised to 100,000. Leonovas was under the gun and Saghabi was in the hijack seat. Leonovas made the call and the two went heads-up to the flop.

The first three cards down on the felt were the {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. Leonovas wasted little time in making his actions known and quickly shoved in for roughly 200,000, just about a pot-sized bet. Saghabi snapped him off holding {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts}. He would be the one at risk, but only barely.

Leonovas held two overs and a flush draw with the {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Without a made hand, this was as good a spot for Leonovas to be in.

The turn brought the {A-Diamonds} and then the river the {3-Diamonds}. Without hitting any of his outs, Leonovas was left with just 15,000 chips.

A few moments later, Leonovas had the last of chips in from the big blind with {Q-} {4-} against Ernst Hermans' {K-Spades} {Q-}. The board ran out {J-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs} and that was all she wrote for Leonovas.

A little earlier while we were on break, Lynn caught up with Leonovas:

Antoine Amourette Eliminated in 22nd Place ($16,632)

Aaron Benton has just claimed another victim in Antoine Amourette.

Short-stacked, Amourette moved all in for his last ~95,000 from the small blind and Benton made the call in the dark from the big blind.

At the showdown, Benton's {Q-Diamonds}{6-Spades} was plenty live against Amourette's {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}. After spiking a six on the flop to take the lead, Benton dodged Amourette's remaining outs to take down the pot and move to 1.2 million in chips.

Sander Aalders Eliminated in 23rd Place ($16,632)

Sander Aalders (Day 2) - 23rd Place
Sander Aalders (Day 2) - 23rd Place
The tournament's largest pot was just played over at Table 88 between Sander Aalders and David Formosa. The two had just battled a few moments ago in a pot before this action went down.

Aalders raised to 26,000 before Formosa reraised to 80,000. This was a larger three-bet than Aalders had made on Formosa a few hands back. Aalders then four-bet to 200,000 before Formosa moved all in. Beginning the hand with roughly 500,000 chips, Aalders stuck all of them to make the call, making this the largest pot of the tournament -- around 1,000,000!

Aalders revealed the {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} but immediately stood from his chair and snapped his head away from the table in disgust when Formosa one-upped him and rolled over the {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {3-Clubs}, leaving Aalders' tournment life hanging by a thin thread.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and then the river was the {10-Spades}. There would be no help for Aalders as he ran into a late-tournament cooler to get sent to the rail in 23rd place.

Collecting that pot put Formosa in the clear chip lead with nearly 1.5 million chips.

Bannister Banned from a Pot

Domenico Lauricella was in the cutoff seat and action folded over to him. He opened with a raise to 25,000. The button and small blind folded. With action over to Stephen Bannister, he reraised to 65,000. Lauricella called.

The flop came down {Q-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs}. Bannister slwoed down with a check after three-betting preflop. Lauricella bet a whopping 160,000 chips. This bet was well over half of Lauricella's remaining stack as he left himself with only 100,000 behind after making it. With little fold equity, Bannister mucked his hand and Lauricella scooped the pot.

Chopping at the Forrest

Jacob Meyer raised from middle position to 25,000. Barry Forrester called from the cutoff seat. The flop came down {Q-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {8-Hearts} and action was checked by both players.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and again, action checked. After the {6-Spades} fell on the river, Meyer fired 25,000 and Forrester called. Meyer rolled over {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for a pair of jacks and Forrester mucked his hand.

Aalders Takes One From Formosa

David Formosa raised to 23,000 from under the gun. Sander Aalders reraised from the button to 63,000 after action folded around to him. Formosa decided to call.

The flop came down {6-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {2-Clubs} and action was first on Formosa. He checked over to Aalders, who bet 100,000. Formosa folded and dropped a little bit to 940,000 chips. Aalders moved up to half a million.
