McLean Takes One Back

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

On a {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop, Benjamin McLean checked and Jonathan Karamalikis made it 150,000 to go.

McLean responded with a check-raise to 300,000 with Karamalikis making the call before the {J-Spades} and {6-Spades} were checked down on the turn and river.

McLean tabled his {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} to prompt a muck from Karamalikis as McLean snatched his first pot of the heads up battle.

First Blood to Karamalikis

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Benjamin McLean limped the button only to have Jonathan Karamalikis bump it to 150,000 from the big blind.

Both players checked the {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop to see the {J-Hearts} land on the turn and another round of checks follow.

The river of the {6-Clubs} was greeted with a 75,000-chip bet from Karamalikis which McLean called.

Karamalikis tabled his {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} to prompt a muck from McLean as first blood in the heads up match goes to the young online star.

Tom Rafferty Eliminated in 3rd Place (A$164,730)

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Tom Raffery - 3rd place
Tom Raffery - 3rd place

With the action on Tom Rafferty in the small blind, he made it 125,000 to go only to have Jonathan Karamalikis three-bet to 300,000 from the big blind.

Rafferty contemplated for a few moments before moving all in, only to have Karamalikis beat him into the pot by screaming call and slamming down his {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} like it was two jokers in a game of jokers wild!

Rafferty: {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Karamalikis: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

With Karamalikis spot on with his read that he was crushing Rafferty's hand, the {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop kept Karamalikis in the lead and left Rafferty trailing and in need of an eight or running cards for a chop.

The {7-Diamonds} on the turn saw the crowd hush quietly as it was just a dimple away from being the card that would save Rafferty.

Unfortunately for the ninth-place finisher from 2008, the river landed the {5-Clubs} to end his 2010 tournament in 3rd place for a A$161,730 collect as play between Karamalikis and Benjamin McLean are now at the heads up stage.

Peco Stojanovski Eliminated in 4th Place (A$121,380)

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Peco Stojanovski - 4th place
Peco Stojanovski - 4th place

Catching the action on a flop of {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, we found Peco Stojanovski and Benjamin McLean bet and raising each other back and forth until Stojanovski found himself all in.

Stojanovski: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
McLean: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

With Stojanovski drawing virtually dead to only runner-runner, the {8-Hearts} on the turn ended Stojanovski's tournament as the meaningless {2-Diamonds} landed on the river.

For Stojanovski's efforts, he will take home A$121,380 in prizemoney after a sensational run in the PokerStars.net APPT Sydney Grand Final.
