Tollefsen Tumbling

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Since his double up, Henrik Tollefssen appeared to have lost the vast majority of his stack again whereas Dai Yuanji is the clear chip leader on the table. Tollefsen just three-bet shoved for around 15,000 in chips and enforced a fold, but he will need at least one or two more double ups to feel somewhat comfortable again.

"Keep It Black"

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante
Scott Davies
Scott Davies

Scott Davies opened to 2,000 from under the gun and received two callers including Sam Higgs before the player in the big blind squeezed to 10,000. The WSOP APAC champion checked his cards again and then decided to move all in, which got both cold-callers out of the way.

The player in the big blind had Davies covered and eventually made the call for another 41,700 on top, flipping over {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. "Keep it black," the American told to the dealer as he held the {A-Spades}{K-Spades}. On the {4-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop he was already cheering whereas Higgs laughed - the Australian revealed in table chat to have folded pocket nines. Sure enough the {10-Clubs} turn and the {3-Spades} river completed the board to give Davies a flush and big double up.

"I run so good," he said with a huge grin on the face before heading into the break.

Lim Out on a Whim

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante
Aaron Lim
Aaron Lim

It was a very short day for Aaron Lim, who arrived not long ago by plane and went straight from the airport to the casino. After a quick break, he entered the tournament and already saw his stack halved before then making a squeeze with pocket queens.

Zheng Guo four-bet jammed on him with pocket tens and Lim was unable to double his 26,000 chips at risk because his opponent improved. And that was it after what may have been half an hour of poker.

Ward Takes On Lim

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Aaron Lim has been spotted in the field today. The 2013 APPT Seoul Main Event champion and WSOP APAC bracelet winner just went heads up against New Zealand’s Thomas Ward.

With 7,000 in the pot and the flop showing {6-Spades}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs} Ward checked his option from the big blind. Lim was seat to his left and led out for 3,100 which was enough to force a fold from the player on the button. Ward made the call and the two watched the {9-Hearts} fall on the turn.

Both players opted to check before the {6-Clubs} completed the board. Ward then reached for his chips and bet out 6,600. Lim thought for a minute before raising it up to 19,100 in chips. Ward spent a minute deciding what to do before finally making the call.

Lim then rolled over his {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for ace-high but was beaten when Ward tabled his {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a pair and the winning hand.

Lim drops down to 25,400 as Ward climbs to 95,000 in chips.

Yung Not Chip Leader Anymore

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

Percy Yung has lost some chips after topping the counts in the first break. It has mostly been small pots from what we could see while walking by and there was no major showdown. That being said, Yung is still among the top five counts in the room though but misses Celina Lin, who sat next to her and has since been moved to a new table to accommodate the growing field.

With another 2h30 left on the late registration, there are now already 78 entries.

Higgs Folds

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

We arrived at the table to see the action fold around to the player in the small blind. He raised it up to 1,900 and was snap called by Sam Higgs in the big blind.

“Must defend all the time,” joked Higgs, before both players watched the flop come {5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

The small blind threw out a continuation bet of 2,500 which again was snap called before the {9-Spades} fell on the turn.

Higgs then watched as his opponent reached for his chips and tossed in another 5,500 in chips. Higgs thought for a moment before mucking his hand.

Tollefsen Doubles With Perfect Turn Card

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

The pots are getting bigger and large raises in multi-way pots have become a standard in the last two levels. Henrik Tollefsen profited from one of them after he bet the {7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} flop for 5,400 and received a call from the player to his immediate right. The other two players mucked and Tollefsen then pushed the {10-Spades} turn for 19,025.

His opponent didn't snap-call but did so eventually to sigh when the Norwegian showed his {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for two pair. The table neighbor had turned lower two pair in {J-Spades}{10-Hearts} and the {K-Clubs} river bricked off.
