The player in middle position opened to 450. Xiaoling Gan, on the cutoff, called, along with the big blind.

The dealer spread a flop of {3-Clubs}{q-Spades}{k-Spades}. The big blind and the player in middle position checked. Gan bet 750. The big blind folded. The player in middle position called.

The turn brought the {j-Hearts} and Gan continued with a bet of 1,300. Her opponent check-called again.

The {7-Diamonds} river completed the board. Both players then opted to check.

Gan showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} to win the pot and her opponent revealed {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} before sending his hand to the muck.

''Ace-jack? How do you call that flop?!'' asked Gan.

''Straight draw...'' responded her opponent.

''If I bet you call?'' Gan continued.

''I would have called you'' answered her opponent.

''How can you check that hand there! You have to bet,'' commented a tablemate.

''Would you have thought I was bluffing?'' Gan asked her opponent, trying to get reassurance once again that she didn't miss out on a bet.

Her opponent didn't answer but one of her tablemates did: ''Well, I thought you were bluffing!''
