Sera Sends Chen to the Registration Desk

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Pete Chen
Pete Chen

On a three-way flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, Pete Chen ended up all in and at risk, and he was called by Sera Ota from one seat over.

Pete Chen: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Sera Ota: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Chen was ahead with the nut flush, but any pair on turn or river would end his first entry on Day 1a. That's exactly what happened right away, as the {9-Clubs} turn improved Ota to a full house. A meaningless {5-Diamonds} came on the river and Chen left the table with a smile and the word "rebuy!" on his lips.

Takao Takes One from Doddaiavar

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

The board was showing {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{k-Spades} and there was around 9,000 in the pot. Shimizu Takao fired in 6,000 and Yasreel Praveen Doddaiavar called.

Takao tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for a rivered straight and Doddaiavar shook his head as he mucked his hand, sending yet another pot to the early in the day chipleader Takao.

Hideki Izutsu
Hideki Izutsu

Norihiro Otani opened to 1,600, Hideki Izutsu moved all in for 6,500 and Otani called, players turned over their hands.

Hideki Izutsu: {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Norihiro Otani: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The flop came down {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} and Otani still had the lead with his ace-high. A {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn, giving Izutsu some straight outs to stay alive. The dealer flipped over a {7-Hearts} on the river, giving Izutsu the only made pair and the pot for a double up through Otani.

Ishida Calls Down Peng

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

A player opened to 800, Yuri Ishida called from early position and so did three others before the action got to Dongsheng Peng who moved all in for 22,200. The only caller would be Ishida who called for her remaining 20,800 and the players turned over their hands.

Yuri Ishida: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Dongsheng Peng: {7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Ishida's ace-high took down the pot, doubling through Peng.

Takao Scoops Large in a Three-Way Hand

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

The flop was showing {7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} when three players found all their chips go into the middle. Hideki Izutsu and Shimizu Takao were two of those three.

Takao tabled {k-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a straight draw, Izutsu showed {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a flush draw and their opponent turned over {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of tens with a straight draw.

The pot was not at around 88,000 and all three players stood up as the dealer began to turn the cards. A {k-Hearts} landed on the turn, giving Takao the lead with a pair of kings.

An {a-Diamonds} came down on the river and changed nothing as Takao took down the pot, eliminating one opponent and leaving Izutsu with just 200 chips.

Otani Chips Up Without Showdown

Level 6 : 200/500, 500 ante

On a three-way flop of {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}, the action checked to Norihiro Otani and he made it 2,100 to go from the button. Only one opponent called to see the {5-Spades} on the turn and Otani's second bet of 2,300 forced a fold. The very same table also features fellow countryman Ken Okada and Otani sits just above the average in level six.
