No More Lee

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Alex Lee
Alex Lee

Day 1a's chip leader is out of the field in a dramatic way. He was left short and jammed all in from the big blind, after Tae Hoon Han's open from the hijack. Han decided to call and Lee was on risk.

Tae Hoon Han: {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Alex Lee: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The flop gave a huge lead to Lee, with the {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} giving him top two pair. The turn was the {a-Hearts}, which put Han back into the game, and the {4-Spades} on the river gave a better two pair to Han, ending Lee's run in 25th place.

The Hand of the Day

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

A huge hand took place in Table 3, with all the action and the drama someone can expect in the last three tables of a big event such as APPT National. It all started with Yang Li opening to 60,000 from under-the-gun, while Qi Xu shoved for 255,000 on the very next position.

Next to act was Hoai Linh Tran, and he called the shove, with the action folding to Shintaro Nozawa on the button. He was considering his options, and while he was still tanking, the initial raiser left his seat, going near the bar, looking like he wanted to order something. Lihn Tran is the one who noted to the dealer that since he left his seat, his hand must be dead. The dealer asked for the floor manager to come, who ruled out that his hand is dead, taking Li's cards to the muck.

Nozawa said that since the initial raiser is out of the way, then he is all in, putting 630,000 chips in the middle. There was a chatter in the table regarding how this move by the initial raiser changed the whole action, but Lihn Tran quickly called Nozawa's all in to put two players at risk, and an end to all discussions, since the most important thing was the actual hand at the moment.

The three players opened their cards:

Xu: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Linh Tran: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Nozawa: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The flop was as interesting as the rest of the hand, with the {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} giving set to Tran and Nozawa, and a gutshot to Xu.

The {q-Clubs} brought celebrations for Xu, who now was a big favorite to win the pot, and the {7-Diamonds} on the river kept her safe from full houses, tripling up her stack. The victim of the hand was Nozawa who busted, with Tran winning the side pot.

Bolei Zhang Eliminated in 18th Place (₱156,000; $3,070)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Bolei Zhang
Bolei Zhang

Bolei Zhang was left with around six big blinds and he put them in the middle with {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, to get a call from Lee Wang Yong who was holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

The flop gave some sweat to the players with the {3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} giving some extra outs to Zhang, but the {8-Hearts} on the turn, and the {k-Clubs} on the river didn't change anything.

Tran Chips Up Further

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Three players saw a flop of {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Benigno Jr Ledina checked to Hogyun Kang who bet 60,000. Chip leader Hoai Linh Tran raised to 170,000 and Kang was the only caller.

The pair checked the {q-Clubs} turn and the river was the {10-Clubs}.

Kang checked once more and Tran bet 215,000. Kang called but was shown {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a rivered two pair by Tran who took down the pot.

Hilberts Saved by the River

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Hilberts got very close to elimination, but he found the river he wanted to not only stay alive, but also double up.

He was left with 340,000, equally to almost 8 big blinds, and he shoved after Jason Kyle Magbanua opened from early position. Magbanua made the call eventually with {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, to see that he is behind Hilberts' {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

The board until the turn was really bad for Hilberts, with the {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} giving a flush to Magbanua.

The {3-Diamonds} on the river though gave a better flush to the Dutch player who managed to double up.
