Strub Wins Small Pot Off Tighe

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Eike Strub raised it up to 1,200 on the button and the UK's Daniel Tighe called out of the big blind. Tighe check-called a bet worth 1,000 on the {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop and they checked the {9-Clubs} turn.

Tighe led the {4-Clubs} river for just 800 and Strub called to win the pot with {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, as his opponent only held {j-Spades}{7-Spades} for an inferior two pair.

Bien Flips Out a Short Stack

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

There was some confusion how much a short stack in the cutoff was all-in for until it was determined to be 14,700 and Mai Bien then called as they were flipping for it.

The cutoff tabled the {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Bien was ahead with the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. No help arrived on the {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} runout and the cutoff was eliminated for certain on Day 1b as it had been their second entry of the flight. However, they can still play again on Day 1c as of 9pm local time.

Bien Chips Up Without Showdown; Abdulla Joins the Leaders

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Ceesvin Abdulla
Ceesvin Abdulla

Ceesvin Abdulla in early position, Hamish Crawshaw in the cutoff and Mai Bien out of the small blind invested 6,000 chips each to see a flop of {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} go check, check. On the {2-Clubs} turn, Bien bet 12,400 and received two folds.

Abdulla remained a big stack after this hand and then not only made up for the losses but pulled further ahead when he knocked out Ngoc Anh Cao. According to Abdulla, he three-bet out of the big blind and Cao just called. They checked the {k-}{9-}{7-} flop and Cao bet the {4-} turn for 7,000 to receive a call.

Cao then jammed the {j-} river with aces and Abdulla called with jacks for the rivered set.

Appledorf Cannot Hit any Draws

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Howard Appledorf
Howard Appledorf

"I cannot hit a draw in two days, how I stayed so long, I don't know," Howard Appledorf sighed on his way out of the tournament area as his seat was empty. There was a massive stack one seat over that belonged to Florencio Campomanes, who provided the following details.

According to Campomanes, he opened the {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} from under the gun and was called two ways including by Appledorf in the big blind. On a {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop all players checked and the {3-Diamonds} followed on the turn. Appledorf bet 2,700 and Campomanes raised to 8,800 before sigh-calling the shove.

He was shown the {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the open ender and flush draw by Appledorf, who bricked the {2-Clubs} on the river.

Tumboli Jams Into Lunde

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

In a three-bet pot to the {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, Zurvan Tumboli checked in the cutoff and called a bet worth 4,000 by Ole Kristian Lunde on the button. Tumboli also checked the {q-Diamonds} turn after which Lunde made it 6,000 to go. The check-shove by Tumboli for 25,700 followed and that forced a fold from Lunde.

"Good read," Tumboli said as he celebrated for a few seconds and Lunde then inquired if they'd reveal the cards.

"You show I show," Tumboli offered as they pulled back the cards from near the muck and made sure it was their cards. Lunde exposed the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Tumboli had the {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for two pair.
