Break

Katchalov Slips

Level 11 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Raymond Wu opened the hijack to 3,000 only to find a three-bet to 7,800 from Eugene Katchalov in the cutoff. The player on the button flatted the re-raise and it folded back to Wu who opted to kick his cards in.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Katchalov continued out for 7,200. His opponent thought for about two minutes before sliding out a raise to 17,500. Katchalov called.

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} to the felt and the Team PokerStars Pro checked to the aggressor. Katchalov's opponent bet 26,300, prompting a fold from Katchalov. With this hit, his stack has been reduced to about 49,000.

Mizzi Keeps Climbing

Level 11 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

We found Sorel Mizzi and Jian Yang looking at a completed board of {3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}. With an already sizable pot in the middle, Mizzi fired out a river bet that looked to be just under 30,000. Yang called, only to find Mizzi roll over {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for trip tens. Yang slapped {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} onto the felt for the second best hand.

Mizzi pulled in yet another pot and has increased his chip lead to about 445,000.

McDonald Makes the Call

Level 11 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

In a three-bet preflop pot where Mike McDonald had called a bet on the flop of {k-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Spades} from his opponent in the big blind, the turn was the {a-Spades} and the river the {j-Hearts}.

After studying the board the player in the big blind moved all in. There were around 40,000 in the pot and the bet was over that with McDonald having a similar stack size. After a short while McDonald made the call. His opponent flipped over the {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} one card at a time but McDonald didn’t flinch and showed his winning {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

“Nice call.” The busted player said and after he had left Billy "The Croc" Argyros quizzed McDonald on a few different river scenarios. McDonald admitted he wouldn’t have liked to face a check-raise in that spot.

O’Dwyer Busts

Level 11 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Steve O'Dwyer was all in and had been called in two spots including Terrence Chan. O’Dwyer swivelled around in the luxury poker chairs they have in the City of Dreams Poker room, unable to watch.

The flop of {3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} saw Chan bet and get it heads-up with O’Dwyer.

Chan showed {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and had O’Dwyer’s {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} bested. A turn {5-Hearts} and river {7-Diamonds} finally saw the high roller champ exit.

Mustapha Kanit gave him a fist bump as he left telling him, “We’ll make the magic duo, high roller and main.”

Hachem Eliminated

Level 11 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Joseph Hachem moved all in from the cut-off for 12,700 and got a call from the player on the button and after a bit of a dwell up the player in the big bind called too.

The flop of {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} was checked but on the {10-Hearts} turn the big blind player bet 15,100 and got Hachem to himself. Hachem showed {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and needed to hit against his opponent’s {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}. The river card was the {3-Clubs} which was enough to send Hachem to the rail. The player who folded mock complained that he had folded {a-}{k-}.
