O’Dwyer Tanks

Level 11 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

With an open from early position to 3,000 Mustapha Kanit made the call as did Steve O’Dwyer and with the blinds folding they went three-way to the flop of {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

The original raiser checked and when Kanit bet 4,000 O’Dwyer called and he folded. Both players checked the {9-Hearts} turn and when the river came the {j-Hearts} that’s when the fun started.

Kanit bet 20,000 and O’Dwyer went in the tank, sitting silently. Kamit didn’t move but as the minutes ticked by he got bored and started looking at his phone. If O’Dwyer called and lost he would be left with under ten big blinds. A little prompting from O’Dwyer started Kamit talking and he didn’t stop, outlining what he could have including, “A jack, aces, kings, a flush, five-six.”

“You just named all the hands that are better than mine.” O’Dwyer said. A crowd gathered as more time ticked by and it was into five minutes before one player did call the clock. Before the countdown began though, O’Dwyer plonked down the calling chips. His cards would remain unseen however as Kanit showed the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} flush.

Pogodin Raises River

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

We arrived at the table in time to see Konstantin Pogodin and an opponent heads up in a hand with the board reading {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Spades}. Action checked over to Pogodin who fired out 7,000 on fourth street. Pogodin's opponent wasted little time tossing out a call.

The river was the {5-Hearts} and Pogodin's opponent led out for 6,000. Pogodin came over the top for 14,000, sending his opponent deep into the tank. Roughly three minutes passed before Pogodin's opponent decided to flick his hand at the muck.

Pogodin pulled the pot and now sports a stack of about 175,000.

Prokorov Over Smith

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

We picked up with the action to see about 20,000 in the pot on a board of {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Maxim Prokhorov fired out a fourth street bet of 11,000 and Dan Smith called to see a river.

The dealer produced the {7-Diamonds}, pairing the board on the river. Prokhorov slowed with a check and Smith took this opportunity to bet 16,000. Prokhorov quickly called and watched as Smith showed {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for nines and sevens. Prokhorov had that beat, however, with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a higher two pair. Prokhorov took the pot and Smith's stack dropped to about 73,000.
