Wu On the Brink

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

It looks like Raymond Wu has had an early setback and is now running on fumes. We say a couple of recent hands where he was looking to get some back without much luck.

Wu opened under the gun for 4,000 and faced a three-bet to 9,700 from Jorn Walthaus to 9,700. Wu called and check-folded to a bet for the rest of his chips on a flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

On the next hand he was in the big blind and called a bet of 4,000 from Stephane Blouin. The flop was {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and when Wu checked a bet of just 3,000 from Blaouin was enough to get a fold from Wu who went on to fold his small blind next hand.

Troyanovskiy Doubles Through Jung

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

The board read {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and there was well over 100,000 already piled in the center of the table. Vladimir Troyanovskiy and reigning champion Sunny Jung were heads up in the hand. Troyanovskiy shipped all in on the turn, sending Jung into the tank while he pondered calling for 70,200.

Roughly two minutes passed while Jung contemplated his action. After continued thought, he ultimately decided to slide calling chips past the betting line.

Troyanovskiy: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Jung: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Troyanovskiy's pocket aces were in the lead and they stayed that way after the {3-Clubs} completed the board. He scored the double up and now has about 270,000 in chips.

Zhang Flops It, Doubles

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Jian Zhang opened the action and then faced a raise from Dimitar Danchev to 12,000. Zhang made the call and the two of them saw a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} which was checked to see the turn card {8-Clubs}. Zhang moved all in and Danchev started shaking his head, studied the board for a while and made what looked like a reluctant call.

Danchev held {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} but the flop had smashed Zhang who triumphantly tabled his {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, rapping the table and shouting, “Yes.” The river {a-Hearts} completed the board as Zhang chattered on in excitement while Danchev was still shaking his head.

Pavone Peeved By Gu

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Patrick Pavone opened the action and faced a three-bet from Huidong Gu. Pavone put in the calling chips and it was heads-up to a flop of {8-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

Pavone checked it over to Gu and he carefully counted out a bet of 23,500. Pavone mulled it over and made the call. The turn card {10-Hearts} saw another check from Pavone and havibg counted his stack Gu moved all in.

Pavone slumped back in his chair, eyes to the ceiling. After some thought he threw in his {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} face up. “Show the jacks.” another player said but Gu pointed at the king.

“Unbelievable.” Pavone muttered, things just not going his way today.
