Michael Tureniec Eliminated in 17th Place (HK$ 338,000)

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Konstantin Pogodin opened and then called a shove from Michael Tureniec who tabled {k-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

Pogodin showed {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and thumped the table when he saw Tureniec hit the flop but the {9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts} gave him a set he didn’t see at first. The turn {7-Diamonds} and river {3-Clubs} was the end of the line for Tureniec.

Danchev Doubles

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Dimitar Danchev moved all in for 140,000and Bodo Sbrzesny elected just to call for around a third of his stack. Sunny Jung then raised to 400,000 and it was back to Sbrzesny who smiled at his dilemma, and then started shaking his head. In the end he folded though and left them to it.

Danchev had {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Jung tabled {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

A final board of {3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} brought salvation on the turn for Danchev and there was much discussion of Sbrzesny’s decision to fold what he claimed was queens.

Yu Doubles Through Le Jossec

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Joseph Cheong made it 22,000 to go from the cutoff and it folded over to Ronald Chun Long Yu in the small blind. He moved all in for what looked like 112,000 and Gabriel Le Jossec flatted from the big blind. Cheong let his hand go and the hands were turned up.

Yu: {K-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Le Jossec: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The board fell down {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades}, pairing Yu's king on the turn and allowing him to score the double. He now has about 250,000 while Le Jossec has dropped to roughly 880,000.

Jung Hero Call

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Meng Dian Peng opened the action for 18,000 and was three-bet by Sunny Jung to 44,000. The blinds folded and Peng made the call. The flop was {4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades} saw Peng check and Jung bet 51,000. It looked like Peng was going for a check-raise but a bit of miscommunication resulted in just a call.

The turn card {a-Hearts} saw both players check and the {k-Hearts} appeared on the river. Peng led out for 140,000 and Jung had a long think about it. He had made a big laydown not long before and now faced another tough river decision. Jung did make the call though and Peng showed {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Jung tabled {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and was good.

Sorel Mizzi Eliminated in 18th Place (HK$338,000)

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Sorel Mizzi - 18th Place
Sorel Mizzi - 18th Place

Gabriel Le Jossec opened to 18,000 from middle position and action trickled around to Sorel Mizzi in the cutoff. Mizzi announced an all in raise for what looked to be about 135,000 total. The button and blinds folded, putting the action back on Le Jossec. He thought for about 30 seconds before sliding out calling chips.

Le Jossec: {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Mizzi: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop fell {J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, keeping Le Jossec's ace-high in the lead. Mizzi picked up more outs, however, as he was then four to a diamond flush. The {4-Hearts} paired the board on the turn, meaning Mizzi would need to improve on the river in order to stay alive. Fifth street did not do it for him, though, as the {5-Hearts} finished the board and he was eliminated in 18th place.

Big Pot For Pogodin

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Yaxi Zhu opened the action for 17,000 and Sunny Jung three-bet to 42,000. Konstantin Pogodin made the call on the button and when the blinds folded Zhu made the call.

The flop was {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Zhu opted to check. Jung continued the aggression with a bet to 65,000 and while Pogodin called Zhu folded her hand.

The turn card was the {2-Diamonds} and on this street Jung opted to check-call a bet of 100,000 from Pogodin to see the river card {q-Hearts} appear. Once more Jung checked and Pogodin slid out a bet of 204,000.

Jung gave the matter some considerable thought. There was a big pile of chips in the middle but after close to five minutes Jung took one last look at his cards and let it go. With that pot Pogodin crept into the chip lead.
