Francis Gets Called

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

We arrived at the table just as the player in the cut off raised it up to 1,400. Dean Francis made the call from the small blind before
the big blind raised once more to 2,600. Both his opponents made the call and the three then watched the flop come down {5-Spades}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Francis checked first before the original raiser led out for another 3,200. The cut off mucked his hand and Francis called.
Both players the checked as the {3-Spades} fell on the turn before the {q-Diamonds} completed the board. Francis didn’t slow down as he bet out 4,500 for the last time. His opponent thought for a minute before final making the call.

Francis then unconvincingly turned over his {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for ace high, before his opponent showed his {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for two pair and the pot.

King Capitao

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

“Life is good for the Capitao,” Oliver Gill said after he found a recent double up.

‘Capitao’ for those that aren’t aware, is what Gill refers to himself as at the table.

True story.

The hand in question began when a player opened it up to 1,000 from early position. Another player then three-bet to 3,000 and the action flew around to Gill in the small blind. He shoved all in for 17,625.

The player who opened the pot got out of the way, while a call was made, with Gill having his opponent covered by a few thousand.
Gill had {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} against {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

The {8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} board was good for Gill and so he moved up above 30,000.

Hu Shoves on Dean

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jun Hu has just won a handy pot off Dean Francis.

We missed the preflop action, but tablemate Ben Rendall was happy to let us know that it started when one player opened it up to 800. Francis then three-bet to 2,000 from the button and Hu cole four-bet to 4,200 from the big blind. The original opener got out of the way and the dealer flopped over a {j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop and Hu led for 5,500. Francis eventually called and an {8-Hearts} was flipped over on the river.

At this point Hu moved all in for just a little under 20,000 and Francis went deep into the tank.

Eventually Francis opted to let his cards go and the pot went to Hu.

Francis Gets Some off Rendall

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

The action started with the player in middle position raising to 600. Ben Rendall and Hamish Kibblewhite both called from the hijack and button respectively before Dean Francis bumped it up to 2,100 from the big blind. Only Rendall made the call as the two watched the flop come down {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Francis bet out 4,200 and was called. The {7-Hearts} saw another bet of 7,000 get snap called as the {a-Clubs} completed the board. Francis didn’t hesitate, moving all in for his remaining 25,700 in chips.

Rendall tanked for several minutes before finally opting to muck his hand. Francis then turned over his {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} before raking in the pot.

“You had me one pipped,” said Rendall following the hand.

“You had tens?” said Francis. “That’s what I thought you had. Nice fold.”
