Boxell On Life Support

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We arrived at the table just as Matt Carter raised it to 400 from the hijack. The player in the cut off and small blind called as did Australian Poker Hall of Famer Leo Boxell from the big blind.

The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and both blinds checked. Carter threw out a continuation bet of 600 forcing a fold from the cut off.

The small blind called before Boxell raised it up to 1,800. Carter thought about his decision for a moment before releasing his hand. The small blind, meanwhile, called.

The small blind check-called another bet of 3,000 from Boxell on the {6-Spades} turn and both players then watched the {3-Clubs} complete the board. The player in the small blind reached for his chips and bet out 7,000 which prompted Boxell to instantly muck his hand.

Boxell has dropped down to 3,650 in chips following this hand and will now need to do plenty of work.

Day 1a Entrant Info

There have been four late entrants since the start of Day 1a of the APPT Auckland Main Event. That brings the field up to 54. There are only four online qualifiers at the tables today. With 74 total online qualifiers, that means there are still 70 to hit the tables. We have been told the majority of those will be playin tomorrow's Day 1b.

Sheynin Finds Fours

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The action folded around to the player in the small blind who raised it up to 400. Slava Sheynin was in the big blind made the call as both players watched the flop come down {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

The small blind checked before Sheynin bet out 300. He was met with an instant raise to 700 and called as the {a-Clubs} fell on the turn.
Sheynin opted to call another bet of 900 as the {j-Spades} completed the board on the river. The player in the small blind checked prompting Sheynin to bet out 3,200. The bet sent Sheynin’s opponent into the tank for over a minute before he finally made the call.

Sheynin tabled his {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for trip fours much to the frustration of his opponent whose cards flew into the muck.

Honeybone Gone, Rendall Soaring

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The action started with James Honeybone raising to 500 pre flop and getting called by Ben Rendall on his immediate left.

The flop came down {j-}{7-}{6-} and Honeybone bet out another 600 which was called. Honeybone didn’t slow down as he slid out another 1,800 on the {5-} turn which was called.

The {4-} completed the board and Honeybone moved all in for his remaining 7,000 in chips. Rendall made the quick call.
Honeybone tabled his {a-}{3-} for the bottom end of the straight but it was not enough as Rendall showed his {8-}{8-} for the top end and the pot.

Rendall sits atop the leader board with 54,000 in chips.

Carter Trips Someone Up

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

With the board reading {3-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and 8,400 already in the pot, the player under the gun threw out a bet of 6,500. Matt Carter was in late position and moved all in for his remaining 8,575 in chips.

His opponent made the quick call before both players tabled their cards, with Carter showing {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

Carter was in the lead with his set of queens and was able to dodge several cards as the {5-Hearts} completed the board seeing him move back up to 25,550 in chips.
