No Day 2 For Lin

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Celina Lin
Celina Lin

Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin has not managed to make it through to Day 2 as we just got word of her elimination. Lin moved all in for 7,000 before the flop and was called by a player holding {A-}{10-}. The two-time Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon winner tabled {A-}{8-} and her hand did nog manage to improve.

With the elimination of Lin there's just one PokerStars player left in today's field as Bryan Huang also hit the rail a little while ago. PokerStars Team Online Naoya Kihara quietly grinds his hands with 42,000 chips and he's in a good spot to make a run in this tournament.

The Main Event Slows Down, The Cash Game Action Picks Up

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Chen's Chip Stack Construction
Chen's Chip Stack Construction

Chen Anh, formerly a member of the Taiwanese military but currently a full time poker professional, has been stacking chips for the majority of today in the cash game area. As tables are being broken in the tournament, we're currently down to 66 out of the 118 that started, the cash games are juicer by the minute.

As of right now seven cash game tables are in full swing, two 5,000/10,000 KRW ($5/$10) and five 2,500/5,000 KRW ($2.5/$5) games. The cash games action looks to heat up as it's getting later in the day and by the time the Main Event finishes the room might get fully overtaken by the men and women ready to win some instant Won.

Huang Hits The Rail in Search For Fried Chicken

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Bryan Huang
Bryan Huang

Team PokerStars Pro Byan Huang has just been knocked out from the APPT Seoul Main Event and he was kind enough to share with us what happened.

Huang explained that he raised to 1,300 from the hijack holding ace-queen and the player on the button decided to make the call. After both blinds folded the flop brought out {7-}{7-}{6-} and Huang fired out 1,500 in an attempt to take down the pot right there. This plan did not work as his opponent moved all in, and Huang called off his remaining 5,600 chips.

Huang was in trouble with his two over cards, but he still had outs being up against pocket fours. The board however did not change and he was knocked out during the sixth level of play.

"I'll play most of the side events depending on how hungover I am tomorrow," Huang joked after he hit the rail, referring to the epic PokerStars Party that's planned for tonight.

Huang, a Korean food connoisseur proven by this photo he put up on his Instagram last night, made an effort to point out that the party cannot be missed because of the excellent fried chicken with spicy sauce that will be up for grabs at some point tonight. "Korean food is the best, it just makes me so happy," Huang added, as he brought up one more good reason for players around the world to keep an eye on making it down to Seoul during a big poker event like the APPT.

When it comes to Huang's next big poker event the wait won't be long as he's gearing up to play APPT Macau in May and subsequently the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Yu Grinds Quietly

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Winfred Yu
Winfred Yu

It's interesting to see a man like Winfred Yu play in a poker tournament. Yu doesn't say much, he smiles every now and always seems very polite when present at the table. There is however a lot more going on at all times on his phone, as Yu's known to host the biggest live cash game in the world.

Photos that Yu's posted on a Chinese social media platform similar to Facebook called weibo have gotten global attention as the stakes being played are inconceivable. Recently PokerNews' own Chad Holloway interviewed Tom Hall, a Macau regular, and he gave some very interesting insights into the world of high stakes poker in Asia.

So while most players are concerned with their tournament life here in Seoul, Yu might be more interested in when the next big game takes off after he gets back to Macau. As he's constantly on his phone we're assuming that there might be some text messages with the likes of Tom Dwan, Richard Yong and Paul Phua going around to see when the next multi-million dollar cash game will include some new challengers.

Currently Yu sits on around 22,000 chips and a phone filled with contacts that look to put the Global National Product (GDP) of a small country on the line in a cash game on a given night.

Ohyama Doubles Through Razavi

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Akira Ohyama
Akira Ohyama

Akira Ohyama has been waiting patiently to make a move with his short stack. It came when he went all in for his final 5,675 from early position and found a caller in Sam Razavi.

Ohyama: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Razavi: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The flop {8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} paired Razavi's king but gave Ohyama a flush draw. The turn {a-Hearts} came, completing Ohyama's flush and was followed by the {8-Spades} river to give him the double up. Ohyama still has plenty of work to do as he is still on a pretty short stack.
