Trading Chips

The chips are flying quite a bit quicker since the last break, but neither player has made much of a dent. Mel Judah has slipped a bit, falling back to roughly 160,000.

What's at Stake

In case you've forgotten, the players aren't just playing for a total of AU$52,000 in cash to be split between the two of them. They're also playing for an Aussie Millions gold ring, a value of AU$5,000 that's been added to the prize pool of every event this year by Poker Allure Jewelry.

Four Pair No Good?

Three pair is bad enough in Omaha. Rainer Quel just mucked four pair. His {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} didn't connect with the board in the right way. Mel Judah collected the pot on a board of {4-Spades} {8-Spades} {7-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {6-Spades} when he bet the river and Quel mucked.

The two players are now just about dead even in chips.

Quel Looking for a Knockout Punch

Rainer Quel hasn't been able to find that soul-crushing hand to really put Mel Judah on the ropes. Not for lack of trying. He check-called all the way to the river, with the board coming {4-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {9-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}. On the river, rather than checking, Quel just mucked his hand as first to act.

"Wow, didn't even let me bet it, eh?" asked Judah.

Judah Comes Roaring Back

"This would be the worst call I've ever made," said Rainer Quel as he contemplated a bet from Mel Judah on a board of {Q-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. There had been plenty of action, with a raise preflop, two raises on the flop, and a bet on the turn. Quel finally made the call. Judah calmly turned over {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}, having flopped the nut flush draw to go with his aces and having backed into a wheel. Quel said he mucked jack-ten-eight-seven.

"That's why I didn't raise," said Judah, although it was unclear which street he was referring to. "I put you on a wrap."

Judah has life again with roughly 120,000 chips.

Judah on the Edge

A big pot to Rainer Quel has Mel Judah on the brink. Judah raised preflop and was called. On a flop of {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {J-Spades}, Quel checked and then raised after Judah bet. Judah called that raise, called a bet on the {A-Clubs} turn, and then checked behind after Quel checked the {6-Hearts} river. Quel showed {J-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {4-Spades}. He made a club flush and a weak low. Both were good enough against Judah's {A-Spades} {7-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}.

Judah only has 61,000 chips left. It looks like Quel is moving in for the kill.

We're Heads Up!

It's taken fifteen hours, but we're finally down to the last two players. The Aussie Millions gold ring has been placed on the table. Rainer Quel enters heads up play against Mel Judah with a commanding chip lead of 395,000 to 115,000. It's his tournament to win.
