Willcocks Survives Elimination

David Bach raised it up before the flop and was re-raised by Phillip Willcocks. Regardless, he made the call and took to the flop.

On a flop of {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, Bach raised and Willcocks moved all in. Bach quickly called and the players turned over their hands.

Bach showed {8-Spades}{5-Spades} and Willcocks was going to need some help to stay alive in the tournament with his {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

Fortunately for Willcocks, help wasn't far away as the turn dropped the {j-Spades}. Bach couldn't redraw on the {7-Diamonds} river and Willcocks escaped the jaws of elimination.

Willcocks moves up to 17,000. Bach is back down to 42,000.

Obst Takes Another Hit

James Obst
James Obst
James Obst raised to 3,200 from middle position and Jess Maguire called in the big blind.

They took a flop of {4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Spades} and Macguire checked to Obst, who fired 1,600. Maguire made the call. The turn fell the {5-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {2-Hearts}, and Maguire's 3,200 bet was called by Obst.

Maguire tabled {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, which was good as Obst mucked. Maguire is up to 81,000 with Obst falling to 18,000.

Levy Taking Charge

We caught Levy's latest hand ot the turn.

On a board of {3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{j-Spades}, Levy bet, and Zach Fellows made the call.

The river {8-Diamonds} saw Levy bet and Fellows called yet again.

Levy showed {a-Spades}{8-Spades} and Fellows quickly mucked. Fellows is now one foot out the door at 3,200, and Levy is amongst the leaders at 67,000.

Levy's Soul Read

Emad Tahtouh raised it up preflop from under the gun with Grant Levy calling on the button. The flop came down {9-Clubs}{K-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Tahtouh came out firing with a bet. Levy made the call.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Tahtouh fired a second barrel. Levy went into the tank and deliberated over the decision as Tahtouh threatened to call the clock saying, "I don't think I've ever had to call the clock on someone in a limit tournament before!" Levy eventually made the call.

The river landed the {10-Spades} and Tahtouh's third bullet was again called by Levy. Tahtouh tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for ace-high, as Levy breathed a sigh of relief and showed {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for the only pair.

"Why don't you raise sometime?" quipped Tahtouh. Levy is now up to 60,000 with Tahtouh back to 27,500.

Shak Floats Boat on the River

Preflop, Russell Stevenson raised from the button and Dan Shak made the call from the big blind.

On the {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop, Shak bet out and Stevenson flat called. On the turn, Shak {2-Hearts} once again fired and Stevenson called. At the river {j-Spades} Shak once again bet, and once again Stevenson flat called.

Shak showed {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a full house and Stevenson mucked. Shak rolls up to 41,000, while Stevenson is down to 20,600.

Obst Slips

Preflop, James Obst raised it up from middle position and Jesse Maguire made the call in the small blind. They saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{6-Spades}, and Maguire check-raised the bet from Obst, who called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Maguire bet out while Obst called. The river was the {6-Diamonds} and again Maguire bet. Obst again called but Maguire tabled {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for trip tens and Obst mucked.

Obst might be starting to get nervous as we approach the money bubble, with his stack slipping back to 24,000 chips. Maguire is up to 53,000.

Alex Horowitz Eliminated by Quads

Alex Horowitz has been eliminated by Zac Gruneberg.

Horowitz moved the remainder of his chips into the pot preflop holding {A-Spades}{6-Hearts} and found a caller in Grunberg with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

The flop of {8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} was bad for Horowitz, but the {8-Clubs} on the turn was certainly worse.

Horowitz was the first champion of the tournament that eventually became the Aussie Millions. In the first year Crown held its "Australiasian Championship" it was a fixed limit hold'em format, rather than a no limit hold'em event. Horowitz emerged triumphant from that field of 74 runners to claim the $25,900 prize money.

Interestingly enough, Ken Eastwood (2nd), David Gorr (3rd), Leo Boxell (4th), and Jason Gray (6th) all made that final table and were all also in the field today.

Levy Outmuscles Tahtouh

Grant "Grunter" Levy
Grant "Grunter" Levy
Grant Levy raised from early position before Emad Tahtouh three-bet from the button. The blinds folded and Levy made the call.

The flop landed {9-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, and Levy checked to Tahtouh, who fired out a bet. Levy made the call.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and this time Levy led out with a bet. Tahtouh folded and Levy flashed him the {Q-Clubs}. Some mind games are developing on this table as we approach the money stage, with Levy looking set for another cash finish with 55,000 chips.
