Sloooooooooooooooow Down

If the action was slow before, it's glacial now. There are two tables remaining, only one of which will be paid. The play has tightened considerably as players are jockeying to be among the eight that make the money.

Demetriou Still Rolling

Seven-Card Stud:

Notch another bust-out for Harry Demetriou. He started {2-Spades} {2-Hearts} / {A-Clubs}, then improved on fourth and fifth street {A-Spades} {2-Spades} to make deuces full of aces. His opponent, Michael Mariakis, started {3-Spades} {4-Hearts} / {9-Diamonds} and had only made a lowly pair of nines by fifth street, {6-Hearts} {9-Spades}. Mariakas did not catch a running full house and was eliminated.

Demetriou is sitting behind 76,000 in chips.

Scheduling Change?

The rumor floating around the tournament floor is that, once we reach the final table, a vote will be taken regarding whether to play the final table tonight or to wait until tomorrow (as scheduled). Given that we will probably reach the final table before midnight, we expect that the players will vote to play on tonight.

Mel Judah Eliminated

Mel Judah - Eliminated
Mel Judah - Eliminated
Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo:

Mel Judah was so close to the money -- just one table away. He wound up all in with queens showing on his board and a pair of eights in the hole. The other two eights were on Anthony MacNamara's board, along with an ace. MacNamara spiked one of the remaining aces on the river for aces and eights. Since neither player had a qualifying low, MacNamara scooped the pot and sent Judah to the rail, much to Judah's disgruntlement.

Demetriou at Top as Putt Exits

A Happier KiwiG
A Happier KiwiG
Razz

Graeme "KiwiG' Putt was all-in for his last few thousand on third-street, and once Michael Mariakis was out of the way, Putt and Harry Demetriou battled it out with the following boards:

Mariakis: x-x / {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Putt: {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} / {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts} / {4-Spades}
Demetriou: {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs} / {9-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs} / {2-Hearts}

Demetriou's 9-6 low was enough to send Putt and his 9-8 low to the rail. Demetriou raked in the pot and is now up to 80,000 in chips.

Mariakis' Adventurous Play Doesn't Pay

Razz:

Michael Mariakas liked his four door card enough to complete the bring-in. David Morton, showing a nine, was the only caller. Both players caught a brick on fourth street, Mariakas with a king to Morton's queen. Morton bet and was called.

On fifth street, Morton caught a six to Mariakas' four. Morton bet, probably expecting a fold. Surprisingly, Mariakas called. All the money went in on sixth street, where Mariakas caught a nine and checked to Morton's queen. By the time the raising was done, Mariakas showed 2-10 / 4-K-4-9 for a king-ten against Morton's A-2 / 9-Q-6-Q for queen-nine. Each player improved on the river, but Morton's nine-six was best. He's now at 40,000, while Mariakas has fallen to 14,000.

MacNamara Quarters Demetriou

Omaha Hi/Lo

Catching the action on the turn with the board reading {2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} and with 25,000 already in the pot, Harry Demetriou led out for 4,000. Both Anthony MacNamara and Rodney Davidson called.

The river brought the {7-Clubs} and all three players checked. MacNamara quickly turned over his cards, tabling {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Davidson mucked and Demetriou showed {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} to take a quarter of the pot.

With that pot, MacNamara moved up to 37,000, Davidson slipped to 37,000 and Demetriou to 53,000 in chips.
