Judah Sends Sanderson to the Rail

Razz:

When you're short, you have to make moves that you wouldn't ordinarily make. Charles Sanderson caught the bring-in showing a king, then called all in after Mel Judah completed. Judah made a smooth seven by fifth street, A-4 / 7-3-2. That was more than enough to eliminate Sanderson, who showed 3-6 / K-Q-Q. Judah is up to 34,000.

Marwan Nassif Eliminated

Omaha Hi/Lo

With action folding round to Jarred Solomon on the button, he opened with a raise to 2,000. Joe Meissner called out of the small blind and then Marwan Nassif raised to 6,000. Both Solomon and Meissner made the call.

On a flop of {Q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades} Meissner led out for 2,000, which was followed by Nassif calling his last 100 chip into the pot. Solomon also made the call, and when the {7-Diamonds} landed on the turn he again called a bet from Meissner.

The river fell the {3-Diamonds} and Meissner again bet out 2,000. Solomon called. Meissner tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for quad three's while Solomon tabled {4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for the low.

Nassif stood up, mucked his cards and stated, "I had a spade draw and a low draw . . . how do quads hold up!"

With Nassif departing, the feature table can truly be called the 'death' table as we have already lost three players in only six hands.

Action Table!

Ryan Hurst Rivered To An Exit
Ryan Hurst Rivered To An Exit
We're just back from the break and the feature table has already lost two of its members.

Daniel Farid headed to the rail on the first hand back, and Ryan Hurst was the next casualty.

Hurst opened the action in hold'em to 4,000 and Tony Bloom called from the cutoff. On a flop of {5-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}, Hurst led for 2,000 and was called by Bloom. When the {5-Diamonds} fell on the turn, Hurst moved his last 3,600 in and Bloom made the call.

Hurst: {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Bloom: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}

Looking at a likely chop, Bloom would manage to spike the {Q-Hearts} on the river for his jack-kicker to play. Hurst exited to the rail and Bloom moved up to 29,000 in chips.

Hall of Fame Presentation

Joe Hachem accepting his induction as an Australian Poker Legend.
During the dinner break, the inaugural Australian Poker Hall of Fame inductions were made at the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championships welcome party. This year's inductees, in alphabetical order, comprise: Billy Argyros, Gary Benson, Tony G, Joe Hachem, Mel Judah, Jeff Lisandro, and Lee Nelson. There were only supposed to be seven inductees, but everyone was surprised when Maurie Pears was also added to the list.

There could only be one Australian Poker Legend out of that group. That honor went to 2005 WSOP Main Event winner Joe Hachem. Hachem gave a poignant speech about merely being "in the right place at the right time," but Crown Director of Poker Operations Jonno Pittock told a story of being in the Crown poker room the night that Joe Hachem won the 2005 WSOP Main Event.

"You could cut the air with a knife," Pittock said. "When I announced over the P.A. that Joe had won the Main Event, it was like we all won the Main Event." It was a touching display of Aussie pride.

Harry D Takes Both Halves

Stud Hi/Lo:

"Yes, it is a nice hand," said Harry Demetriou. He had shown down {3-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} / {A-Hearts} {3-Spades} {5-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} / {6-Clubs} for two pair, aces and threes, and a 7-6 low. That was more than enough to take both halves of the pot and increase his tournament-leading chip count to 68,000.
