The Banker and the Poker Player

Level 7 : 300/600, 50 ante

One is the youngest ever player to win a World Series of Poker Europe bracelet. The other is a powerbroker and one of the biggest investment bankers in Australia.

Annette Obrestad sits with Michael Kroger two seats to her left and it is very unlikely that Obrestad is aware of her opponents life outside of table 46.

While thousands of miles, a different profession and decades come between them, the two players actually have alot in common. They both must make decisions with millions of dollars in the balance. They both deal with people trying to make money from their decisions. They both must deal with high pressure situations.

But none of that matters anyway, becuase while they are here in Melbourne for the Aussie Millions they are both simply, opponents.

With the board showing {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} Obrestad lead out for 2,200. Kroger made it 5,000 and forced Obrestad into the tank for close to two minutes.

When Obrestad eventually made the fold, Kroger took a second look at his cards and calmly folded.

Investment Banker or Poker Player. It's all the same at the end of the day- A desperate attempt at bringing home large amounts of cold hard cash.
