Woods Keeps Momentum Going

Barry Woods checked the {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{q-Hearts} board to Carlos Mortensen, who bet 500. Woods called, then checked again on the {2-Hearts} river. Mortensen tossed out the same bet. Rather than just call this time, Woods raised to 1,500. Mortensen called, then mucked when he saw's Woods' {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

Woods - 13,000
Mortensen - 7,000

First Game Out of the Woods

Carlos Mortensen had three-bet preflop a few times to chip up a wee bit before limping with Barry Woods to an {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop. Mortensen bet 300, and Woods raised him to 1,000. The Matador quickly moved all in, and with a shrug, Woods called.

Mortensen: {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs} - at risk with a pair of kings
Woods: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} - in the lead with a pair of aces

The board came running deuces, ending the first game in Barry's favor in under an hour. They've already reset to start the second game.

Woods did warn Mortensen earlier that he always wins the first game.

Barry Woods is slowly chippping away at Carlos Mortensen's stack. In the last hand, Woods made it 600, and Mortensen called.

Flop: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} - Mortensen checked, and Woods checked behind.

Turn: {10-Clubs} - Mortensen checked, then called when Woods bet small.

River: {10-Diamonds} - After one more check, Woods bet 800, and Mortensen called to see that Woods had gotten tricky with his {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for flopped trips.

One for Woods

Carlos Mortensen checked the {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, and Barry Woods made a small bet. Then Mortensen check-raised him to 1,050. Woods made the call. The {8-Hearts} turn earned another check from Mortensen, and Woods checked behind. The dealer laid the third five on the river, and Mortensen checked it too. Woods bet 1,100, and Mortensen folded.

Matador Wins First Match

Carlos Mortensen

Once again, Carlos Mortensen had Dan Smith all in with a dominated ace. It was Mortensen's {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} to Smith]s {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} this time.

Mortensen picked up a flush draw on the {k-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. And he gave a fist pump when the {8-Diamonds} turn made him the nuts and had Smith drawing dead. The {3-Hearts} river was inconsequential, and Mortensen picked up a W in the third game. With that, he won the match 2-1.

Mortensen moves on to play Barry Woods. If Mortensen win that match, he will be declared the winner, and Smith and Woods will play for second place. If Woods wins the next round, then Smith is back in it with a chance to win.
