Updated Chip Counts

With Martin Kozlov and Gerasimos Deres the most active early in this final table it is no suprise to see them at the top of the chip counts. It is Shao Liu who has dwindled his stack early and Mel Judah who still needs to do some work after coming into the table as the short stack.

Deres Dominating

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante
Gerasimos Deres
Gerasimos Deres

Gerasimos Deres has been the most active so far at this table taking down several pots including the last couple in a row.

Folded to Deres in middle position he would raise to 16,000 before getting calls from Lindy Thornton in the cutoff, Milan Gurung on the button and Jarred Solomon in the small blind.

The four players would see the flop fall {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{a-Hearts} and none of the players would bet, just as when the {3-Hearts} on the turn was checked. The river would roll off the {3-Spades} and this time Deres would bet and all would get out of the way fearfully.

The very next hand Deres would raise to 19,500 from early position and get one call from Jai Kemp in the big blind.

The board would roll out {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{a-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} with Kemp firing out 22,000 on the turn and 39,000 on the river, getting the smooth call from Deres each time.

Deres would table {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} to best the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} of Kemp.

Deres' stack is now sitting at around 475,000.

Deres Clubs Solomon

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Gerasimos Deres opened the hijack to 18,000, and Jarred Solomon defended his big blind.

Flop: {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} - Solomon checked. Deres bet 24,500. Solomon asked for a count of his opponent's stack. After learning it was 147,000, Solomon opted to flat.

Turn: {7-Clubs} - The third club on the board had Solomon on the offensive, betting 28,000. Deres tanked for three or four minutes before calling.

River: {k-Clubs} - Solomon quickly bet 68,000, and Deres called. Solomon's {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} was clubless, and Deres showed {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} to take the pot. "I was going to shove the turn," he said, and Solomon indicated that he'd have folded to a shove.

Solomon is down to around 160,000, and Deres climbed to 330,000.

Check or Allin?

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Our first "All-in" announcement of the final table has just taken place and it all started when Shao Liu riased to 18,000 from the hijack and managed one call from Milan Gurung in the big blind.

With a flop showing {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}, Milan Gurung said check and thinking that Liu had also said check, the dealer announced his check and went to burn a card. The TD was luckily paying attention pointing out that Liu had in fact said allin.

Gurung mucked his hand, the confusion not altering his decision as he didnt want to rumble with Liu.

Don't Bully the Gurung

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Milan Gurung raised under-the-gun to 17,000. Then Martin Kozlov three-bet to 31,500. He tried to stick another 5,000 chip on top, but the dealer stopped him. "Oops, misclick," he said. Mel Judah tanked a minute in the small blind before folding. Lindy Thornton thought about it as well before giving up her big blind. As soon as action was back on him, Gurung moved all in. Kozlov mucked instantly.

Kozlov Taking Charge

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 500 ante

Folded to Martin Kozlov in middle position he made the min-raise and got both Gerasimos Deres and Mel Judah to call in the blinds.

Flop: {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The action would be chacked to Kozlov who would again fire out a bet, this time only 9,000. Deves would call while Judah would get out of the way.

The turn fell the {2-Hearts} and with it both players would check.

When the river came the {j-Clubs} it would again be checked by Deres. Kozlov would slowly push out two small stacks of 5,000 denomination stacks with a single 500 denomination chip on top. The best was 50,500.

Deres would fold and Kozlov would rake in the third pot he has taken down at the final table so far. Kozlov moes his stack to around 425,000.

A Main Event champion has been crowned with Australia’s David Gorr walking away with the AUD$2,000,000 first prize and while a smaller prize, todays final table will be hotly contested.
