Event #9: Aussie Millions Main Event

Day 2 Started

Australia Day! Oh, and Day 2

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Welcome back for Day 2 of the 2011 Aussie Millions Main Event! Not only is it the second day of action here at the greatest poker tournament in the Southern Hempisphere, it's also Australia Day. Celebrated each year on January 26, the date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of New Holland. That's all and well, but these players inside the confines of the poker room here at Crown have more than parties and parades on their minds.

With 265 players left from the total field of 721, today will make or break a lot of players' tournaments. With the money line set at 72, it's a very real scenario that the bubble will burst today. Oliver Keefe will enter the day with the most chips in the room at 198,200. He came out of the Day 1c field.

Team Full Tilt Poker will be returning to action with a few big stacks in their corner. Erick Lindgren has 186,000, Patrik Antonius has 176,500 and Phil Ivey holds 134,200 while online qualifiers Luke Brabin and Carter Phillips have 177,200 and 162,500, respectively.

Play kicks off at 12:30 P.M. local time here in the Melbourne. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for all the action from the felt.

Ferguson Knocks One Out

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Team Full Tilt Poker member Chris Ferguson had an opponent all in preflop with the {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}. His opponent held the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The player's all-in bet was for nearly all of Ferguson's chips, but the board ran out {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} to keep the jacks good and win Ferguson the hand.
