All About Eights for Capra

Sam Capra's day has revolved around eights. He doubled down and back up with them earlier, and now he just made quad eights to double back up again.

He was heads-up with Mark Betts and they had reached the turn of a {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} board. The chips went in and Betts was ahead with {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a flush. Capra tabled {a-Spades}{8-Clubs} and managed to find the {8-Diamonds} on the river to make quads and stay alive.

Betts Extends Lead

Ross Parkhill raised to 36,000 from the button and both blinds came along for the ride. The flop fell {6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Parkill's 45,000 c-bet was only check-called by Mark Betts.

The two checked the {k-Clubs} turn to head to the {8-Clubs} river. Betts led for 84,000 and Parkhill looked frustrated as he folded, obviously not liking the club flavour of the board.

Speaking Irish

Level 23 : 8,000/16,000, 1,000 ante

Ross Parkhill has continued to pick up some extra chips. There hasn't been any major hands, but the Irish players has chipped away at Michal Polchlopek over multiple pots. Speaking of Irish, an interesting scenario just played out where the dealer was sure Parkhill was calling him an "idiot".

Parkhill was actually announcing his bet as "88".

Jamie Pickering Eliminated in 5th Place ($24,000 AUD)

When Mark Betts opened the action to 25,000 from the dealer button, Jamie Pickering would pop it to 90,000 in the small blind. A call from Betts would see the {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop dealt on the felt.

It was on the flop that Pickering shoved his stack. Betts made the call and his {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} would be ahead of the {j-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Pickering. The turn and river would need to bring some big cards for Pickering, but a {6-Hearts} and a {2-Hearts} wouldn't help as Pickering was sent home in 5th palce.

Betts is now the first player to see his stack rise over 1 million.

Betts Picks Away at Jamie

Mark Betts opened the action to 25,000 on the button. Jamie Pickering then three-bet to 80,000 in the small blind and Betts made the call.

Flop: {6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Both players checked on the flop as the {7-Clubs} was dealt on the turn. Pickering again checked and then called a bet of 80,000 from Betts. The {j-Clubs} on the river saw both players check and Pickering sent his cards into the muck as Betts revealed his {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Michal Chipping Away

Michal Polchlopek has easily been the most active in the last 10 minutes, opening pots, three-betting and c-betting his way back up to 700,000. He hasn't faced much competition and has now moved back into the top couple of chip counts.

Capra Get's It Back

Sam Capra has just managed to get the chips he lost to Michal Polchlopek back. This time Capra went to a {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop with Mark Betts and Polchlopek. This was where Polchlopek and Capra got all their chips in. For a couple of minutes it looked like Betts was also looking to rumble, but he ended up sending his cards into the muck.

Capra turned over a familiar hand - {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Polchlopek didn't have a bigger overpair this time, but stilll had plenty of outs holding {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

When the turn and river brought two repeat nines, Capra took his chips back off Polchlopek to sit with a healthy stack again.
