Phua Hurts The Germans

Level 8 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

The flop read {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Fabian Quoss checked from the small blind. Philipp Gruissem sat in the big blind and he checked as well which put the control in Paul Phua's hands. Phua bet 28,000 and both his opponents called.

On the turn the {9-Spades} peeled off and once again it was checked to Phua who bet 62,000. Quoss didn't hesitate too long and called, as did Gruissem creating three-way river action.

The river showed the {2-Spades} and both Germans checked for the third consecutive time. Phua tanked for about a minute and then announced he wanted to bet 160,000.

Quoss immediately folded his cards but Gruissem wasn't so sure. After a few minutes he made up his mind and decided to make the call. Phua quickly showed {K-Spades}{10-Clubs} and raked in this very big pot.

Bloom Rivers Two Pair

Level 8 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

From the button, Tony Bloom raised to 24,000. Sam Trickett three-bet from the big blind to 48,000, and Bloom made the call.

The flop produced the {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}, and Trickett check-called a bet of 30,000 from Bloom.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and both players checked to see the {5-Hearts} land on the river. Trickett checked, and Bloom bet 78,000. Trickett tank-called, but couldn't beat the {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} that Bloom held for a rivered two pair and mucked his hand.

Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen raised to 22,000 from the hijack seat, and Paul Phua made the call from the button. Richard Yong called out of the big blind, and the flop came down {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.
