Portaro Busts Before Break

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante
Bruno Portaro
Bruno Portaro

In the last hand before the break, Bruno Portaro raised to 4,325 with leaving himself another 25 chips behind. Julius Colman eventually looked him up out of the small blind with the {A-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Portaro tabled his {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Following the request of Portaro for some high cards, the dealer obliged but it wasn't the card Portaro wanted to see when the flop fell {4-Hearts}{A-Spades}{6-Clubs}.

It was all over after the {8-Clubs} turn before the meaningless {3-Hearts} appeared on the river. Portaro confirmed to be back for the H.O.R.S.E. Event #2 tomorrow as of 12:10pm local time though.

Ottey Leads Into The Break

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
David Ottey
David Ottey

Crown cash game regular David Ottey has emerged as the chip leader heading into the second half of the flight.

Early on, Ottey picked off a massive bluff when his heads-up opponent fired 2,000 prior to, and 1,500 after a {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop. Ottey check-called with the {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, then when the {9-Spades} turn came and gave him a boat, Ottey checked again.

His opponent fired all in for 9,150 with the naked {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Ottey snapped him off.

Ottey went on to bust two more players in one hand heading into the break and is sitting on top of the counts now.

With the end of Level 6 now here, a 15-minute break starts now.

Ramakrishnan Shoves; Stephensen Incognito

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Felix Stephensen
Felix Stephensen

Former November Niner Felix Stephensen has been flying under the radar thus far without his typical patch and cap, but the Norwegian started nicely into the Opening Event and sits at a table with Raj Ramakrishnan and Jim Andreadis. The latter two were just involved in a pot on the {4-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} turn.

About 7,000 chips were in the pot and Ramakrishnan shoved for twice of the amount to enforce a fold. Ramakrishnan showed his {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Andreadis nodded, having folded a flush draw and overcards according to his table talk.

Maggs Wins One; Mucks One

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

The player that had previously doubled up Gernot Abl in the secondary tournament area just lost the remainder of his short stack for around 10 big blinds with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. Arthur Maggs had looked him up from the hijack with {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and got there on a board of {J-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

One hand later, Maggs raised to 800 and faced a three-bet to 2,500 by the player on the cutoff. The Australian gave it some thought and then mucked to get shown {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. "You got me there, I had eights," Maggs added.

Portaro Very Short; Colman Splits

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Julius Colman had raised from early position and was called by an opponent on the button. On the flop {A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}, the bet of Colman for 1,700 was called and the Australian fired another bet worth 3,500 after the {2-Hearts} turn. Again the opponent called and both then checked the {A-Hearts}.

The {2-Hearts} river slowed down the action and both players checked. Colman flipped over {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and his opponent revealed {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} to chop it up, also fistbumping with a grin on the face each. Bruno Portaro mentioned that he would have had a straight and earned an urgently needed triple up, sitting there with less than 10 big blinds.

Davies Flips Good

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Scott Davies has finally doubled up the short stack after a raise by Michael Addamo from under the gun and a call by Sam Khouiss. Davies got it in out of the big blind with {A-}{J-} against the pocket sixes of Khouiss and an ace appeared on the flip right away. "I still haven't lost a flip at the Crown," the American added.

Just after, the dinner order arrived at the table and Davies smiled "yay cheeseburgers." Sure enough, Davies flipped for the expense with table neighbor Tony Mai and won that flip as well. Run like Davies.

Burns Eliminated

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Kahle Burns came back from the break with a healthy stack, but that has since vanished and the seat is occupied by another player. Xuan Liu confirmed the elimination but the details remain unknown. Burns is very likely one of the candidates that take advantage of the reentry option for the next flight(s), though.
