Afiouni In Control

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Hachem made it 20,000 and both Doug Corning and Mohammed Afiouni called. They all checked the {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, but Corning led for 40,000 on the {7-Spades} turn.

Only Afiouni called, and the river came the {6-Hearts}. Corning checked, Afiouni bet 100,000, and Corning went deep into the tank.

He emerged with a call, and Afiouni showed the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{K-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a pair of tens.

Corning mucked and Afiouni now has more chips than both others combined.

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Linh Tran
Linh Tran

From under the gun, Linh Tran moved all in for his last 34,000 chips and Daniel Hachem as well as Mohammed Afiouni called. The two remaining players checked down the board {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} entirely and Tran announced queen-high.

Tran: {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Afiouni: {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Hachem: {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The runner-up of Event #13 bowed out in 4th place this time and received a payday of A$12,455 for his efforts.

Corning Back on Track

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Mohammed Afiouni raised to 25,000 as first to act and Doug Corning moved all in to enforce a fold. Then, Linh Tran opened to 20,000 and Daniel Hachem squeezed to 50,000. Corning moved all in again without a showdown following.

Tran limped the button for 10,000, Hachem called and Corning made it 30,000 to go. Only Hachem called and then check-folded the {K-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, Corning showed him the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

Tran raised to 20,000 and was called by Corning and Afiouni in the blinds. On the flop {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} all three players checked and Corning's pot-sized bet on the {Q-Diamonds} turn did the trick.

Pass The Sugar

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Hachem made it 20,000 and both blinds called.

Doug Corning and Mohammed Afiouni both checked the {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, but when Hachem potted, Corning re-potted. Afiouni folded, but Hachem called all in for his tournament life with the {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Spades} set.

Corning had the {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and needed a diamond to bust Hachem. The board ran out {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and Hachem doubled up.

Tran Doubles Through Afiouni

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Mohammed Afiouni limped from the button and Linh Tran then raised to 29,000, Daniel Hachem quickly folded the big blind and Afiouni tossed in the additional chips almost as fast. On the flop {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, Tran continued for 23,000 and Afiouni announced all in. Tran called and they headed into the showdown:

Tran: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Afiouni: {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

The double draw for Afiouni missed, as the {7-Hearts} turn and {5-Spades} river changed nothing whatsoever to give Tran a double up for 169,000.

Hachem Getting Shorter

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After a preflop raise to 18,000 and a call, Daniel Hachem as well as Mohammed Afiouni headed to the flop {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} and checked through. On the {3-Clubs} turn, Hachem bet 20,000 and was called before both checked through the {9-Hearts} river. "I think we are splitting," Afiouni said before tabling the {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a straight.

Hachem however mucked.

Then, a three-way flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} was checked, as did the {9-Clubs} turn. Doug Corning bet the {10-Hearts} river for 22,000 and both his opponents called. Corning tabled the {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} for quads and scooped the pot.

Frank Pezzaniti

Frank Pezzaniti led out for 24,000, Doug Corning potted and Pezzaniti called off with his tournament life on the line holding the {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

Corning was ahead with the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and made a wheel on the {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts} board to bust Pezzaniti fifth.

Corning Jams Twice on Afiouni

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Hachem raised to 16,000 from the button and Doug Corning called in the small blind. Mohammed Afiouni then squeezed to 58,000 and Hachem folded, Corning shoved for just under 200,000 to scoop the pot.

One hand later, Corning raised to 17,000 from the button and Afiouni as well as Linh Tran called in the blinds. The flop came {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Afiouni check-raised from 22,000 to 63,000. Tran got out of the way but Corning jammed for the second hand in a row to enforce yet another fold from Afiouni.
