Tens No Good for Cates

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On a flop of {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Spades} we saw Elliot Smith check from the small blind. Daniel Cates made a bet of 7,000 from the cutoff and Smith called. Smith check called another 15,500 before both players checked the {Q-Diamonds} on the river.

"A pair of tens" Cates said just before showing his {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Smith tabled {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for flopped trips and took it down.

Giesbrecht on the Rise; Finger Not So Much

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Martin Finger raised to 4,000 under the gun and Sean Giesbrecht called from the cutoff. The rest of the field folded and it was heads-up action to the {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop. Finger check-called a bet of 4,000 and then both players checked the {K-Diamonds} turn. When the {A-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Finger led out for 8,000 and was met by a min-raise to 16,000.

Finger didn't like it and ditched his hand.

Liem Doubles Through Yunis While Eliminating Esfandiari

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Nick Yunis limped from early position and Michael Liem did the same from the small blind. A short-stacked Antonio Esfandairi then raised all in for 35,000 from the big, Yunis reraised all in over the top, and Liem opted to call off.

Liem: {9-}{9-}
Yunis: {a-}{k-}
Esfandiari: {a-}{k-}

Yunis and Esfandiari held each other's outs, and both paid the price as the board ran out clean to give Liem the pot.

AU$790,560 For the Champion

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

A total of 122 entries (100 unique players and 22 reentries) made for a prize pool of AA$2,928,000 (just over $2 million). AA$790,560 (approx. $556,000) of that is set aside for the champion. A total of 14 players are making the money here in the first 2016 Aussie Millions High Roller, guaranteed AA$58,560 (approx. $41,000) from that moment on.

You can find the entire payout here.

Level: 10

Blinds: 1,200/2,400

Ante: 300

Here's the Kicker

Level 10 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Stephen Chidwick raised the button and was soon met by an all-in three-bet by Pratyush Buddiga in the big blind. Chidwick, who had the smaller stack, wasted little time in calling off for 43,700 total.

Buddiga: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Chidwick: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Buddiga had a kicker problem, but he resolved it on the {10-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Spades} flop. Unfortunately for him, his lead was short lived as the {Q-Spades} spiked on the turn. The {6-Diamonds} river was of no consequence, and Chidwick shipped the double.

Kho Busts Yunis

Level 10 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Nick Yunis, who was off to a great start today, has just been knocked out Kitson Kho. Yunis found himself all in for about 35,000 chips and the showdown went as follows.

Yunis: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Kho: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Yunis was sent to the rail. The tournament clock shows 56 players remaining now, with a little under three hours left to play before the day ends.

2014 Aussie Millions Champ Stays Alive

Level 10 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Ami Barer, who won the Aussie Millions Main Event two years back, opened for 5,000 from the cutoff and Martin Finger called from the button. Sean Giesbrecht came along from the big blind and three players took a flop of {4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

Giesbrecht checked, Barer continued for 4,000, and Finger raised to 11,000. Giesbrecht folded, Barer called, and the dealer burned and turned the {Q-Clubs}. Barer checked, Finger bet 12,000, and Barer check-raised all in for 24,200 total. Finger called and discovered the bad news.

Barer: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}
Finger: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Barer had flopped a set, which actually turned to quads when the {4-Clubs} was put out on the river.

Kurganov Doubles; Finger Triples in Same Hand

Level 10 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Igor Kurganov raised to 4,800 from the cutoff only to have Ami Barer three-bet to 11,700 from the button. Martin Finger called off his last 5,000 from the big blind, Kurganov called Barer's raise, and a side pot was created heading into the {q-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Spades} flop.

Kurganov check-called a bet of 9,900 and then checked for a second time on the {10-Clubs} turn. Barer moved all in and Kurganov reluctantly called off for 31,500.

Kurganov: {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Barer: {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Finger: {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

All three players were drawing live, meaning the river could have big implications. It did too, at least for Finger as the {6-Diamonds} gave him two pair to triple. Meanwhile, Kurganov won the side pot with a pair of kings.
