McDonald Eliminated by Kornuth

Level 11 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Chance Kornuth just raised under the gun to 6,500 and Mike McDonald moved all in from the big blind. Kornuth told us he called the shove for about 53,000 chips and the showdown went as follows.

Kornuth showed {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and beat McDonald's {2-}{2-}, and the event is now down to its last 40 players.

Chidwick Runs into Kurganov's Kings

Level 12 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Igor Kurganov raised from the button and Stephen Chidwick proceeded to move all in for about 80,000 from the small blind.

Kurganov called Chidwick's shove, and showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Chidwick was in trouble holding {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and the board brought him no help.

Giesbrecht Gone

Level 12 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Sean Giesbrecht
Sean Giesbrecht

Sean Giesbrecht, who fired two bullets in this event, open-shipped under the gun for his last 24,000 and action folded to Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov, who called from the big blind.

Katchalov: {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Giesbrecht: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Giesbrecht was a heavy favorite, but disaster struck when the {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop paired Katchalov's kicker. Neither the turn nor river helped Giesbrechet, and he headed for the exit here in the last level of the night.

Cates Doubles Lynskey

Level 12 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Alexander Lynskey opened to 8,000 from first position on his 5-handed table. Daniel Cates three-bet to (what appeared to be) 29,000 from the small blind and Elliot Smith folded from the big blind. Lynskey pushed all in for 69,000 and Cates, after giving it some thoughts, made the call.

Alexander Lynskey: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Daniel Cates: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} gave Cates some additional outs. The {Q-Clubs} made Lynskey top set and left Cates drawing dead. The {A-Clubs} on the river gave Cates two pair but it wasn't good enough this time.

Kurganov Fishhooks Kozlov

Level 12 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Martin Kozlov
Martin Kozlov

Igor Kurganov opened for 8,000 from the button and Martin Kozlov responded by three-betting all in for roughly 90,000 from the small blind. Kurganov wasted little time in making the call after the big blind got out of the way.

Kurganov: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Kozlov: {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

Kurganov's fishhooks were well out in front, and that's just where they stayed as the the board ran out {4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} to send Kozlov to the rail.
