Juanda Eliminated by Chew

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

John Juanda's seat was vacant and Faraz Jaka, with the help of other players at the table, told us what had happened.

Stevan Chew had opened and Juanda had defended from the big blind. Juanda then check called a bet on {2-}{4-}{8-} rainbow with a single {X-Hearts}. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} bringing a second diamond to the table and Juanda bet out. Chew called, and he called Juanda's 4,550 shove on the blank on the river as well.

Juanda had nothing but {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Chew had called with a better nothing with {A-}{K-} and sent Juanda packing.

Ivey Eliminated By Volkoff

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Phil Ivey (or is this No Home Jerome?)
Phil Ivey (or is this No Home Jerome?)

A short-stacked Phil Ivey moved all in for 2,725 from the hijack seat. On the button, Tamara Volkoff reraised all in for 7,675. Everyone else folded, and that left Ivey's {J-Spades}{9-Hearts} up against the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} for Volkoff.

The {7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop didn't do much for Ivey, and the {K-Hearts} on the turn left him drawing stone dead. The river was the {10-Diamonds}, but Ivey was already halfway to the exit by the time it hit the felt.

Zarro Cracks Aces to Stay Alive, Guerin Still Profits

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

German pro Jens Lakemeier raised to 1,400 in early position after which Andy Zarro moved all in for 12,275. Didier Guerin was next to act and he thought for a while before making the call.

The action folded back around to Lakemeier, and he moved al in, eliciting a snap-call from Guerin.

Guerin: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Lakemeier: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Zarro: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

The flop brought out {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Guerin seemed on his way to gathering a very big stack. The {6-Diamonds} changed nothing, but the {J-Spades} river turned everything upside down. Zarro went from last to first, and with a loud cheer he raked in a huge triple up. Guerin shook his head, but he still doubled through Lakemeier who took the biggest hit.

How About Some Counts

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Benson Pushes Out Mercier

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Gary Benson
Gary Benson

After the player in the cutoff seat limped in for 500, Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier raised to 1,800 on the button. Gary Benson called from the small blind, the player in the big blind called, and then the limper completed the preflop action with a call as well.

The flop was paired with cowboys — {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts} — and action checked to Mercier. He bet 2,600, and Benson check-raised to 5,700. The other two players folded, and then Mercier called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, and Benson led with a bet of 7,500. Mercier tanked for a minute or so and eventually folded his hand to give Benson the pot.

McDonald Shoves the Flop

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

On the {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop, Mike McDonald was check-raised by an opponent from 1,200 to 2,700. McDonald responded by reraising all in for 9,400, and his opponent folded.

Zarco Doubles Through Ivey

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

After Phil Ivey raised to 1,200 from middle position, play folded to Javier Zarco in the big blind. Zarco moved all in for 6,125, and Ivey made the call after he received the count from the dealer.

Ivey had the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, but he was behind the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for Zarco.

The {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades} board kept Zarco's hand best, and he doubled up to knock Ivey down to 4,000 in chips.

McDonald Can't Bluff Benson

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

On the {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{K-Hearts} board, Gary Benson bet 3,500, and Mike McDonald made the call.

The river was the {10-Spades}, and Benson checked. McDonald attempted a bet of 8,000, but Benson stuck around with a call and that didn't mean good news for McDonald and his {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}. Benson had the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and won the pot.

Roberts Eliminated

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Brian Roberts was already short and was nowhere to be found just now. Former table mat Kitty Kuo told us he had shoved all in for his last 10 big blinds with {K-Spades}{J-Spades} from early position. A player in middle position had looked him up with {2-}{2-} and that hand had held up.
