Davies Gives Up on the River

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With around 4,000 in the pot and a board reading {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Scott Davies, who won the 2014 World Series of Poker APAC Main Event here at Crown Melbourne, bet 2,800 from the big blind after his opponent in the small blind had checked.

The small blind then checked the {K-Diamonds} turn and Davies thought for a bit before doing the same. The player in the small blind tabled the {8-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for a pair of eights, and it was good as Davies simply mucked.

Up To 327 On Day 1c

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

The tournament board currently reads that 326 entries have been tallied on today's Day 1c. Combine that number with the 182 from Day 1a and 207 from Day 1b, and the total entries for the 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event has reached 716 entries.

Late registration will remain open until the end of Level 8, which is the first level of Day 2 on Wednesday.

Aditya Agarwal
Aditya Agarwal

PokerStars Team Pro Chen-An Lin raised to 625 from the cutoff and the player in the small blind made the call. Lin's Team Pro colleague Aditya Agarwal in the big blind squeezed to 2,300 and both Lin and the small blind called.

The three of them got {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} to work with and the small blind checked. Agarwal followed his preflop aggression up with a bet of 3,600. Lin resolutely shoved all in for 12,850 and the small blind folded. Agarwal asked how much it was, and made the call.

Chen-An Lin: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Aditya Agarwal: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

Agarwal was in a world of trouble with his ace-queen, and needed a deuce or running hearts real bad. The {J-Clubs} on the turn left Agerwal just the deuces, and none of 'em popped up on the river. Instead the {8-Spades} completed the board and Lin doubled up.

Kurganov Crushing

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

An under-the-gun player raised to 700 and action folded to Igor Kurganov, who called from the button. Rupert Elder, in the big blind, came along and three players took a flop of {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. Two checks saw Kurganov bet 1,050, and both his opponents called to see the {K-Clubs} turn.

All three players checked, and when the {4-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Elder moved all in for 7,975. The under-the-gun player folded and Igor, who was chowing down on a salad, began to mull over the decision. Eventually he put together a call and dropped it in the pot.

Elder turned over the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and began getting up out of his seat even before seeing Kurganov's winning {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

Jaka Hits Big

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Faraz Jaka opened the button for 700 and the player in the small blind made a three-bet to 1,650. This prompted Celina Lin to toss in her cards from the big blind, but not Jaka as he called.

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{J-Clubs} and the small blind bet 1,500. Jaka made the call and called the big 6,000 bet on the {7-Hearts} turn as well.

The river came the {5-Spades} and the small blind checked. Jaka fired 8,800 and his opponent made the call.

Jaka showed {A-Hearts}{7-Spades} for trips and his opponent mucked.

"I thought that seven was a good card for me" he later said with a wry smile on his face.

Ivey Lets One Go

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

An under-the-gun player raised to 700 and the player to his direct left called. Action proceeded to fold all the way around to Phil Ivey in the small blind and he called to make it three-way action to the {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop. Ivey checked, the original raiser continued for 1,100. The early-position player folded, Ivey called, and it was heads up to the {9-Spades} turn.

Ivey checked for a second time and then ended up folding when his opponent bet 3,200.

Holz Eliminates Zisimopoulos

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

After a raise to 650 and a call from Georgios Zisimopoulos in the cutoff it was Fedor Holz who squeezed to 2,300 from the small blind. The big blind and initial raiser both folded but Zisimopoulos made the call in position.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Holz bet 3,900, enough to put Zisimopoulos exactly all in. Zisimopoulos, who's played countless hands against Holz online, made the call.

Georgios Zisimopoulos: {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Fedor Holz: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

Holz had paired up and was the favorite, as Zisimopoulos had just the naked flush draw to go on. The {5-Diamonds} on the turn gave him some more outs but the {4-Diamonds} on the river wasn't one of them. Zisimopoulos said his good bye's and Holz started stacking.

Hall Doubles Through Holz

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Not long after Fedor Holz picked up some steam by knocking out Georgios Zisimopoulos, the German pro had to surrender a fair amount of chips as Tom Hall doubled through him.

The flop showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs} when Hall bet 600 from the under-the-gun position and Holz called from the cutoff.

On the turn the {3-Clubs} hit and Hall bet another 900, which was quickly raised by Holz to 2,800.

Hall tanked for a bit before calling, and on the river the {3-Diamonds} hit.

Hall quickly checked to Holz, and called even quicker when the German pro put him all in for his last 8,875.

Holz showed {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for king-high, and Hall doubled up with {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a full house.

Hachem Wins Some from O'Dwyer

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Tony Hachem opened from early position and Steve O'Dwyer in the big blind was the only caller. O'Dwyer check called a bet of 1,300 on {8-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and check called another 2,700 on the {Q-Clubs} turn.

The river came the {10-Spades} and O'Dwyer checked. Hachem checked behind instantly and showed his {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} just as quick. O'Dwyer flashed the {K-Hearts} before mucking.
